I'm sampling a couple of pale Ales tonight. These will be followed by a lamb curry with some spiffing home grown garlic,chillies,tomatoes and onions. Then maybe a whisky. This is my theoretical cure for the nasty cold I have...its bound to work!

I did leave it alone for a couple of reasons. 1. Mrs Clint is almost blind to my varied pursuits...rarely says a word...acting the ar5e...getting plastered...staying out fishing...not a word. When she expresses a desire for me NOT to do something daft...its best I listen! 2. She's scared of wasps.

We had a wasps nest hanging in one of the sheds down the allotment. I was under very strict instructions from Mrs Clint to " keep the xxxx away from it!"

And strangely there weren't many fat people...

Oooo! A wasps nest....on many occasions I have found it difficult to resist bothering such things! Like the fool I am!

Personally I wouldn't bother. I think from that small amount you'll get some colour and as you said the high risk of infection. Adding during the boil won't ruin it but I wouldn't add any at bottling. If you want a blackberry flavoured beer I'd use a commercial essence.

The pins just need pushing through the holes to prevent the arms popping open...any suitable diameter wire will do...paper clips?

Out of interest what seals do the brewing kit camlocks come with? We use a variety in work...silicone,rubber,neoprene,plastic encapsulated silicone..depends on the destructive properties of the stuff being pumped.
