Not as many Apples on my tree

My bramley cropped heavily every year for 48 years, but the last 3 years were nil (it did not even blossom), ok, then this year a very modest crop has mainly dropped onto the floor. Damson tree has a massive crop, I am having to prop up some branches.

    Dirty lazy barstewards

more likely stirring up the mud to disturb insects etc to entice in the fish, or possibly removing weeds to reduce the risk of losing tackle.

    So who's growing chillies 2021?

FatC - they need a lot of heat to germinate, then medium heat. Try putting the neck of a plastic drinks bottle over each seedling to give them their own mini greenhouse - or do you live in alaska.........

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Ascertain your alkalinity from your water Company. Reduce it with AMS to levels "required" by your beer style. Pale SMASH beers need the most AMS, very dark beers little or none. John Palmer is clear and helpful on this.

How long to leave in primary fermentation?

darrellm - At least 50% of any brew is in 1 litre and 2 litre bottles, so they act as pressure gauges. If a PET bottle goes rock hard, I open it outside to ensure marital harmony. I drink within 2 months normally as I detect no improvement beyond that.

How long to leave in primary fermentation?

CrowCrow - I brew 3.8% SMASH beers. After 5 days my last brew was very clear, no visible "bubbling". Safale 04 yeast, hydrated and started with vitamin C, yeast nutrient and brewing sugar. My thinking - what is a bottle conditioned beer - it is one where the final stages of conditioning takes...

    Bottled water

Anglian Water use chloramine, so I use half a campden tablet in 32 litres - treating the water the night before brewing. StevieBoy said but if you're making all grain with a boil, tap water is fine as the chlorine gets boiled off. Does he mean boil the water at the start, because if not, maybe...

    Crumpled bottles

I'm not sure if you left a little air in there or not. I don't believe you would want to remove all of it because it needs to be converted to CO2, give the carbonating process something to work with. Not sure this is correct. Air is 80% nitrogen and 20% oxygen. Enzymes break down sugars into...

    Priming issue...underprimed

    Equipment questions please :)

Lisa MC - I mash (BIAB) in a 35 litre Burco and boil in a 25 litre Burco. Then I transfer to 13 litre and 9 litre stainless steel saucepans and after 4 to 7 days I bottle, using the jug and funnel approach. Each to their own. I like marmite too.
