    Brewzilla Gen 4 PID

I was using 26l water with setting p0.58 and i0.15 I do have the RAPT probe. Definitely agree that water only doesn't replicate the mash experience, I was just surprised that it hit temp and maintained it so smoothly, even with water. I've done ten or so brews and having researched fairly...

    Brewzilla Gen 4 PID

Interesting! Thanks for all the info, and intrigued to know how you measured this flow rate? Also worried that I need to get the wiring checked now! It's an oldish house I'm in here 😬

    Brewzilla Gen 4 PID

First of all, I'm not sure that this is interesting. It seemed interesting to me, but I am perhaps a dull person. I was running a test for PID settings the other day, and up to now with my Brewzilla I have always set the heating power to ~30% for mashing as this seems to be the common wisdom...

Grain Mill recommendations and grain crush for Brewzilla Gen4

I run the pump at "100%" setting, and I try to flow as fast as possible, but like you I will throttle it back using the valve on the recirculation arm to establish a good balance if needed. I reckon I have watched most of YouTube by now, and I don't recall any video with any popular all-in-one...

Sold FREE mash tun, immersion chiller, insulating jacket.

Hey Tony, I'm in Peterborough and I'd love your copper chiller especially if no-one else has already claimed it? I'd happily bring you a few of my brews in exchange (not sure if that is a promise or a threat 😀)

Grain Mill recommendations and grain crush for Brewzilla Gen4

Sounds interesting! I've been using the top plate and laying the silicon tube on that, which seems to be doing me well but always interested to hear how other people are making things work! Cheers! 🍻

Leffe Blonde clone: experience of using cloves and vanilla?

Sounds like a good idea, I tend not to use a spider but I do have one so might give that a go. The Candi sugar in the malt miller kit for this clone come as big rocks, but imagine the hop spider approach would still work 👍

Leffe Blonde clone: experience of using cloves and vanilla?

Did you dissolve the Candi sugar well before adding it to the kettle? I burnt a batch of this by being impatient with getting all the sugar dissolved well into the wort outside of the kettle before dumping it in

Brewzilla gen 4 malt pipe bottom plate - which way up?

Thanks for taking a look @Twostage ! Seems a weird design choice/compromise to me, but on the other hand I'm getting the outcome I expect so no real issue.

Brewzilla gen 4 malt pipe bottom plate - which way up?

I've just had another look at mine, and I've "popped" it back into the other orientation. Hard to tell from the pics but previously it was an upturned lid with the centre point down: Being a fairly thick sheet of metal though, with a little force I've now popped it backwards so it's a...

Brewzilla gen 4 malt pipe bottom plate - which way up?

@Twostage assuming you have a gen 4, does your HED plate have it's low point at the edges or the centre? Mine has low point at the centre and so I can't see how this is supposed to allow water to get pushed to the sides. I don't have a problem with temp stability during the mash so it isn't...

    Secret Santa Reviews 2023

My final review, a lovely golden coloured Summer Ale, very refreshing, bright and clear ale quite light in aroma but with a nice medium bitterness and those grapefruity cascade notes. A little under carbonated from what I would prefer for this type of ale, but that could well be my fault as it...

    Secret Santa Reviews 2023

Glad you liked it @starseeker this used Safale T-58 yeast. It is Malt Miller's Leffe Blonde clone recipe, which is really similar to the "old" Leffe Blonde rather than the 6% version on shelves in the UK these days which is not a patch on the original (at least in my opinion). It uses the T-58...
