    Storage of yeast-freeze - refrigerate ???

I've not kept it past the 4 week mark, though it seems quite happy sat there sealed in under a bit of beer. I don't tend to keep the slurry if I've made a really hoppy beer, and I generally only use the slurry in this way when the destination brew is a similar style to the original. I follow...

    Brewing advice

If you're relying on the PRV, then likely that you will have plenty of pressure to dispense at least. I think ideally you would find a way to cool the beer because it is a style that is typically served cooler, and possibly so that some more of that co2 gets absorbed into the beer. If you're...

    Brewing advice

Also how much pressure it is under? Do you have a spunding valve attached, or are you relying on a pressure relief valve? And what temperature is it at right now, and do you plan to chill it further before sampling? To be honest though, I'd probably just give it a go and see :D

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

I think this has been updated in the latest firmware release. Also, if you put it into "distillation" mode, then it will only cycle through these "complete" power steps instead of scrolling through the others.

    Pinter for all grain…

Yes, @borischarlton already pointed out the one flaw in my otherwise flawless plan above 😄👍

    Pinter for all grain…

Agree that a small corny is a better option but just to come back around to the original posting, if you already have a Pinter, then the approach shown in the MM video is still of interest!

    Pinter for all grain…

Ah yes! Good point, I don't want any tears.

    Pinter for all grain…

I wouldn't imagine that the pressure is any different from when you would initially undock it, but of course normally you would release the pressure with the dock at the bottom instead of the top.

    Pinter for all grain…

Interesting... would it be possible to dry hop after trub removal? This is what I'm thinking: 1. Remove dock with trub as normal. 2. Clean/sanitise dock 3. Add hops to sock and tuck inside the dock, under the lip 4. Reattach dock and stand back on end 5. After e.g. 2 days carefully turn...

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

I set a boil off rate of 2.5l per hour on my bz gen 4 which is lower than the "stock profile" from brewfather, but @Baldylocks Brewery it sounds from your post that you are using a Grainfather S40 so not sure how useful this is to you

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

I don't really get the issue with the taller grain basket.. just because you can add more grain does not mean that you must.. the same grain bill in the gen 3 basket Vs the gen 4 basket shouldn't result in a difference should it? The taller basket then gives the option to use larger grain bills...

How many brothers & sisters do you have.

1979 - two sisters (My mum, born in 1954, had 6 sisters and 5 brothers, so definitely dwindling numbers in my family) @foxy - also Irish father. Must be something about cut of the trousers I guess? 😂

Brewzilla Gen 4 advice and experiences

Also really happy with mine, I enjoy employing a bit of knowledge/skill/familiarity to get things ticking along just how I want it, and also get efficiencies in the 77-80 range which is good enough for me. My cousin uses a Klarstein equivalent and sometimes it feels easier on brewday but I...

Last Minute Pressure Fermentation Decision - Did I do the right thing?!

So, after 10 days in the keg I've had a small sample. My thoughts: - Suppression of the esters through the pressure fermentation may have been a little too effective. Aroma seems lacking. That being said, there was no dry hop for this brew and that would certainly have helped for aroma. -...
