    Old beer

I didn't brew it, but I have some 14% trappist stuff that's about 6 years old. No idea what it's like. It's a 750ml bottle, so far too big for me for a session. I'd be wobbly halfway through it! Actually, I've got about 3 of these. A dark and 2 blonde. I keep meaning to take it to Brew club. I...

Stu’s edited Questions thread #3 alternative grain basket for Maischfest (or similar)

Yes, that's basically what I'm doing to. It's a pain, and because the only holes are in the bottom, they get clogged easily, so it takes forever for the water to get back through. Hence why I wondered if you could get one with holes that aren't in the bottom to fit. Like this kind of thing...

    New Capri

Perhaps, but then you need to understand the reasoning behind the EU's decision. The US is doing the same thing. They've said "We're not happy that you're undercutting local manufacturing by Government sponsorship to remove competition" If you see what the Chinese are doing, it's very...

    New Capri

Not in the EU it won't (may or may not impact us) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy99z53qypko 37% additional tax. Which basically means "Forget about cheap EVs any time soon"

Does any other brewers go through phases of the beers being brewed are not want they wany anymore?

and this is the thing. I'm now on my third brew of Dark Rock - Hazy Daze. I really like it. But I also want to experiment. When there's only me drinking, and I probably drink 6-8 pints a week, it takes a while to get through things. I've currently got 14 bottles of the wheat beer, 20 bottles of...

I made a couple of ridiculously hoppy IPAs a while back. I'm sticking to the kits and some "safe" recipes right now.

    Making beer in bed

The only thing I generally do is make sure I have everything in the house and thoroughly cleaned the night before. That means a quick sanitise and I can get going. My stuff lives in my Brewing / Radio / Car stuff shed.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

The American Pale Ale I made a few weeks ago. This one was conditioned with only half a spoonful of sugar. I think it's better for it. Lovely head.

    Extract to start

I did extract many years ago. Then moved onto part-grain. Now on all grain. Dark Rock are great at part-grain if you want to have a go and see what it's about https://darkrockbrewing.co.uk/product/dark-rock-hazy-daze-neipa-part-grain/ Alternatively, you can take all-grain recipes and replace it...

Do commercial breweries buy in yeast?

Interesting indeed. Do they have a shop? Sounds like they need a tap room too!

    IPA using Voss ?

You'll probably realise by now, it's easily my favourite yeast. Really easy to use. Goes bang instantly (often within an hour). Turns over very quickly with no horrid esters. I've even accidentally run it at 25c and it didn't care.
