What are you drinking tonight 2024.

You've not been for a while then? 😂 The local Wetherspoon is around £3 a pint for its cheapest Ruddles. Mind, my local Microbrewery that sell proper, nice tasting beer is £6 a pint. Worth every single penny.

    Electric cars.

Just to show you what's changing in the market.... It wasn't so long ago that you couldn't buy anything realistic under £30k. Now, you can get a brand new MG5 estate that can do 250 odd miles on a charge for under £20k. https://www.baylis.uk.com/mg/offers/pre-reg-delivery-mileage-offers/ Now...

    "That homebrew taste"

Cheers. I can't remember the timings now. I followed the instructions. 3 weeks ferment, 3 weeks lagering. I'm now another 3 weeks in and it's frankly awful. It's not that dark, so I don't think it's oxidised. I do think it might have an infection. It's just not a great beer at all.

    "That homebrew taste"

Just had a look through it. I've not done any of those. Used bottled water. I used chemsan to clean. The only sugar I used was candy rocks (as in most Belgian beers) other than malt etc. Most of the things they suggest in that thread are about extract brewing and cheap kits with sugar -...

Growing Chinook and Centennial - when to harvest, what should I look for?

This is the first year I've grown hops. The centennial are looking great, although not that big - the size of a £1 to £2 coin. I picked one earlier and followed the guide that someone else put up yesterday...

Do these hops look ready to harvest yet?

I'm really glad someone asked this question. I'm growing centennial and chinook. The Centennial are going nuts. But they're only as big as £1 and £2 coins. So from the video, they need to get a lot bigger.

    What did you brew today?

The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Talking of Ted Lasso, I saw James Lance on Saturday who played Trent Crimm - he was being interviewed at CarFest. Came across as a really nice guy. The reason his character grew to what it was, was because he sold it to Jason Sudeikis.

    Electric cars.

Talking about the pricing, they're definitely getting close now. Someone was talking about a brand new Citroen e-C4 which was selling brand new for £21k (list is £36k) Go have a look at what you can buy brand new for £21k. It won't be the size of a C4. The cheapest ICE Ford Focus is £27k.

You can. The best app (in my opinion) is ZapMap. You can add your charger to the app and charge whatever you want.

    What did you brew today?

Just got back from a Festival. My brew ingredients arrived on Friday and I'm out of NEIPA, so what better thing to do hungover on a bank holiday Monday than a brew! I possibly need some help with the dry hop. The recipe calls for 50g of Sabro as part of the dry hop, but TMM are out and I can't...

    Ultra processed food

Certainly wasn't the case when my kids were young. Both me and the Missus worked and we used to scramble to get home by 6pm to pick the kids up from the childminders (who would have fed them) At which point, we then had the usual nonsense of Scouting, swimming, football and other clubs every...

How many brothers & sisters do you have.

Nuclear family checking in (1971) 1 brother 2 half brothers and a half sister 1 step brother and step sister. Chaos when I was young. 4 parents. 8 grandparents. My Mum was one of 5, my Dad one of 6. When I got married, my wife had 8 relatives attend. I had 60. We had to limit it to Aunts...

Are we wasting our time with whirlpool/hopstands?

I throw my hops in a couple of minutes after the end of the boil. Don't bother waiting for it to cool. Found no noticeable difference.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I'm going to France tomorrow - only just inside, so Montreuil area. Any particular beers I should be looking out for?

    Electric cars.

As I said, I'm on a number of EV forums and Facebook groups. Never heard of anyone's catching fire either. I think it's a mixture of the two. It makes no odds really - they both contain LiPo batteries which are the volatile type. Ironically, Tesla (and a couple of others I can't remember)...

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

A new one for me tonight. Problem is, it's 6.8%, so I can't have a pint at the brewery. So brought one home. Not bad. Ironically, the pint I actually had at the brewery was better and it was only 4.9%.

Just added that to the watch list. I have a 3 month voucher I need to use.
