    Fiery Ginger Beer

Surely that's fructose? In which case, it'll ferment. I'm interested in this recipe though.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

It's been peeing it down in the New Forest since Thursday. No respite at all. Weirdly, we got no rain at all in August that I remember.

    dry hop methods & oxidation

I find that pellets tend to retain a lot of liquid.

    Bikes.

I had a Honda C70 when I was about 20. Had a nasty accident with a bulk LPG tank (although I wasn't hurt too badly) Never ridden since.

Dark Rock Hoppy Days IPA review

I too am intrigued with how this compares with Hazy Daze (my current favourite)

    What did you brew today?

Yup, I'm with this. I had a similar issue with a beer a few weeks back. Doesn't hurt at all, as long as there's no oxygen getting in.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Ah, that's interesting. We've setup trees for an espalier arrangement. Except the trees aren't going so well. So I'm using the espalier lines to grow along. Which of course means I have to tie them on. I love this idea.

How many litres of home brew have you made 2024

Ooh forgot this last week. 23L NEIPA 5720L

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

That's amazing. How many years have you been growing them and what are you growing them up against?

Recipe for the best Imperial Stout ever? (my tastes inside)

I've no idea what kind of plastic. I've had it years - one of the usual pressure barrels we've all got hanging about (That probably never gets used). And yes, a Corny should be good. I'm just aware that people have said once you use them for certain beer types, you'll struggle to get them right...

    What did you brew today?

Is that heavy enough? I can't get my filter to stay down. It just wants to go 90% to the ball all the time. I'm not entirely sure anything is going to stop it short of chopping off some of the tube. The tube seems to curl itself up on the bottom and then come back on itself. I've not cut any...

Recipe for the best Imperial Stout ever? (my tastes inside)

Problem is, what kind of container if not a barrel? I have a plastic barrel and corny kegs. Surely those would leave their own taste long-term.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Out of interest, how do you dry them out?

    What did you brew today?

Well, other than making a complete mess of the kitchen last week in my hungover state (I put the boil up to 105c by accident and of course the small hole in the lid caused the boiling wort to go everywhere, amongst other mistakes) the NEIPA appears to be in a good place and I've transferred it...

    Easy clean / Chemsan etc

Yup, be aware that sanitiser is just that. It's rubbish for trying to clean anything. Personally, for cleaning, I use VWP. You don't need to use a lot of it.

Adding fruit puree without making a sour beer

I'm with you on this. I find fruit beers rather full of promise and don't really deliver. The exceptions are some of the lambic krieks. Don't get me wrong, they're not like a beery cordial or alcopop, but they definitely have taste. Again, Badger's poachers choice (I think now called Cranborne...

Recipe for the best Imperial Stout ever? (my tastes inside)

Thanks all :) As above, I'm toying with buying a barrel. I do actually have a large pack of oak staves here as an alternative. And have whole vanilla pods.

    Am I missing something?

Easy water fix, buy Tesco Ashbeck. It's £1.50 for 5 litres. Otherwise, it'll have a horrible twang.

Recipe for the best Imperial Stout ever? (my tastes inside)

I'm after a recipe for an Imperial Stout. I'm looking for something between 10 and 13%. I am looking at buying a wooden barrel which I'll throw a couple of bottles of rum about. And possibly other spirits (please feel free to suggest). Things I like: Chocolate taste Coffee A warm, sweet...
