    Electric cars.

Although I have an EV, I'm actually a petrol head. I spend hundreds of pounds every month on "upgrading" an MR2. I'm about £10k in so far and a long way from finishing. I just don't believe everything I read in right wing media and Facebook. For every negative story, there's usually little...

    Electric cars.

Generally, when I'm out and about, I use open-to-all Tesla chargers. They're usually around 43p per kw. That's about 11p per mile. Still cheaper than most Diesels. I'm really surprised that as an EV owner you've bought into the FUD. Jaguar told people to keep a particular model of i-Pace away...

    Ford Focus replacement

I know others have mentioned before, but I'm a huge fan of Toyota. Yaris Cross. 1.5 litre hybrid. 10k miles. Under £20k. 2 years old. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202407111673778 As an FYI, any car will have a minimum of £180 tax from now on. I seem to remember a few folk have the...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Hence why I set the thermometer with an alarm at 60c. Normally, on its lowest setting, it's around 60c, but with the door open, it never really went over 45c.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I have some of these that I bought at Aldi - we use them for making roast vegetables. It's called a chip mesh. Google suggests you can buy them in all sorts of places. Put the hops on 2 of these and set the oven to its lowest setting with the door a few inches open. I have a thermometer which...

    Lager recipes

I'm making a NEIPA tomorrow. However, I have half a Saison and half an American Wheat beer to use up once I'm done with that. Have some weird hops, as well as some Belgian yeast and a couple of Verdants in. I'll put the ingredients list up shortly for suggestions.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

If it makes you feel any better, I collected all my hops yesterday and this afternoon. Where they're planted, there are clearly a load of fleas and or bitey things. My legs are an absolute mess. I collected 3 boxes full. Dried them in the oven (with the door open). I have a whole 90 grams 😂 I...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

There are 3 things you can do. #1 is have a hedgehog. We have one. Not a single slug or snail ever makes it. When we see them, they're gone the next night! #2 is used coffee grinds. Spread them around the base. They hate coffee. #3 is broken egg shells. I eat a fair amount of eggs and I rinse...

Small beer: Study calls on government to shrink pints

Right, but he didn't. And you made that up anyway. I've just seen your comments in the Covid thread too. I'll put you on mute too. Clearly right wing rabid nonsenser. Oh hang on, you're from Gosport too. Now things click into place.

Small beer: Study calls on government to shrink pints

Did you actually read the article? Labour said that not only did they not agree with it, but Keir enjoyed a pint and they did not agree with this idea. Some Tory Lord, on the other hand, supports it. Don't believe everything G Beebies tells you.

Huw Edwards' BBC pay increased by £40,000 last year

Just reading through the article, a couple of things stand out to me. So here goes.... "Making" indecent images can have a wide legal definition, and covers more than simply taking or filming the original picture or clip. The Crown Prosecution Service says it can include: opening an email...

Huw Edwards' BBC pay increased by £40,000 last year

That for me is a bigger crime. Edwards got 6 months suspended for RECEIVING moody pictures and the guy that SENDS them gets 12 months suspended? That's what is wrong with this world!

Row erupts over brewery's move and pub closure

Just as an aside, if I had to pay to park at a pub, I'd be finding another one. I have no issue having to check my car in though. It's bad enough having to drive and only being able to have a pint, leave alone having to pay for the privilege.

My beer isn't fizzy enough! Forced carbonation issues

Perfect! That's the answer I was looking for. I agree that 20psi at 4c should be super fizzy and frankly, it's not. I'll take it out and give it a good shake and keep adding gas until it stops.

My beer isn't fizzy enough! Forced carbonation issues

I don't roll it around for long - maybe a minute or two. At 20psi I've had it for about 2 weeks and 4c. Yeah, I'm not sure I can be bothered with priming. Yes, I'm sure there are no CO2 leaks.

My beer isn't fizzy enough! Forced carbonation issues

OK, actually, it is. In that it foams and has a decent head (and retention). I'm aware much of this is to do with the recipe and as I use both oats and wheat in my NEIPAs, they come out nicely that way. But they're flat. Previously, I bottled my beer from a bucket FV and used to put half a...

The Wriggly Monkey Brewery Limited liquidation auction, Malt

Yup. Auctioneer charges the person selling commission usually. Sometimes they don't, and charge the buyer a "premium" Sometimes, they do both. In this case, a whopping 25% in addition to 20% VAT
