What are you drinking tonight 2024.

English bitter because that Belgian at 7% went down waaay too quick!

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I had a small taste of my latest batch of Czech lager to see how it’s doing - coming on nicely. Now I fancy something Belgian so I’m having a small glass of my Belgian Dubbel.

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

Today I kegged a couple of beers. First was the cask version of my best bitter. The last beer I put into cask was a batch of pirate pale but it started to go bad before I’d finished it. After a bit of soul-searching I believe it was because the batch was 20 litres and it left too big a head...

    My best bitter to start.

Boosting ABV in a Porter Recipe

I would just increase the base malt because I assume you are looking for the same volume but higher ABV. Increasing the smoked malt may make the beer too smoky and more roast barley might make the beer too roasty or even bitter. Do remember you will increase absorption by the increased grain...

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

    That’s why I don’t! 😉 It’s fairly consistent at 1,000 litres a year.

Brown ale next. I brewed this to sit between my bitter and porter.

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

Well I brewed another beer, another best bitter! 😂. I can’t help myself, I expect I’ll get another Pirate Pale on in a week or two. The cask bitter is about ready to get in the cask and the strong ale will be kegged toward the end of this week.

I’ve just finished a brew day (best bitter) so now I’m having a beer. Best bitter 😉

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

I had to take my car for an MOT this afternoon (passed with a couple of advisories about deteriorating dust covers) and popped into Sainsbury’s across the road to pass time. I of course came out with a couple of beers. This is the first.

Your duplicate message and my comment about a glitch in the matrix have both disappeared. Now I’m scared 😳

After a Broadside I’m having this Oakham Citra T90 IPA. Nice.

How strange! I just liked this post and a box opened up asking if I’m sure I want to like this post! 😂 Who have you upset?

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Cask bitter. The cask is only half full now but I do have another batch that will come out of the fermenter and go into cask on Thursday. Just as well because this morning our eldest daughter has arranged with us for all her beer friends to come round on December 27th. We do enjoy having them...

A cheeky drop of porter from the bottle I’ll be adding to a beef stew. I’ll probably serve it with a puff pastry hat and a few veggies.

What are you drinking tonight 2024.

Nothing for me just yet. We’re out visiting a couple of friends tonight so I’m taking a selection of bought beers and a couple of litres of my cask bitter. He will have a selection of beers and we’ll have a good time drinking the beers we know and sharing the ones we don’t or that we both...
