Using a mystery hop - and elderflower

I add between 100-125g (for an 5g batch) around 5 mins before end of boil to try to maximise flavour but also kill off any nasties present on the wild flowers. You still get a real hit of the elderflower.

    CO2 prices in your areas?

Just got a refill from my nearest store in Inverness (100 Mile away) - about £41+VAT for a refill for 6.35kg (although they deliver for free). Same as last December but over double what it was prior. Gonna have to start keg conditioning I think 🧐

    Four Priests, One year.

Echo what others are saying here @chopps. I’m more of a lurker here and on YouTube but I’m an avid watcher (about the only thing I regularly watch on YouTube to be honest!) Usually in the bath on a Saturday night with a glass of home made red wine. Sorry if that’s too much info 😂 Keep up the...

Short trip to Brussels - recommendations please!

I was there last year with the missus. Would recommend the Brussels Beer Project as well - walking distance from the centre and they do a nice wee tour and good beer samples too. I'd also recommend Beer Central, you get given a Beer Encyclopaedia on entry with over 300 beers they have...

    What’s this called?

I need more of these but no idea what they are called and don’t want to buy (another) thing that isn’t quite right. I got some with some brew kit I bought and it looks fairly standard but just don’t know what to google 🤓

    Purging

I’m curious - what’s the “starsan method”? Putting starsan in the keg, shoogling (Scottish word 😬) it all around and then purge through a tap with co2? Or have I missed a trick? 🤔

    Yeast recycling

Ah that makes sense actually from a couple of brews I’ve done recently. Will bear that in mind 👍🏻

    Yeast recycling

I re-use yeast all the time but don’t feel like there’s a lot of effort involved. I have a chronical fermenter (cone at the bottom like a fermzilla) so easy to harvest. Usually put it in a sanitised jar and whack in the fridge. I’ve used yeast that has been over a year old without any adverse...

    Grain conditioning for milling.

Thanks - still haven’t tried this yet (although haven’t brewed in a while!) but this gives some good context and makes me far more willing to give it a bash! 👍🏻
