90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

:laugh8::laugh8: Have you seen the Craft Beer Channel YouTube video where he made a 36 hour beer? I have! Great episode. Great channel.

90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

Right... I'm drinking a glass this min. On Wed eve the ferment kicked off. Was done by Thurs eve. Currently at 1017. Might drop a bit more over the next few days. Kveik is a different beast altogether. Fascinating. I fermented in a corny keg. First pour off (slurry!) went into a 500ml PET...

90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

Lots of positive vibes on this! Update: It only really started fermenting today. I should have made a starter. I just added the flakes on Monday morning. Hopefully 2 days at 27c and not much yeast activity hasn't allowed for anything else to take off in there... I can't see it being ready for...

90 minute brewday - Raw beer - Kveik Hornindal

I brewed my first raw ale today in 90 mins. REcipe was super simple. Went for 100% Maris Otter and went for a yellow balanced water profile on Beersmith. Did a small batch - 11L using the BIAB method. While the mash was happening, I boiled 12g of Magnum in 500ml of water for around 40 mins. This...

    TT Landlord.

This is the recipe I use. Wyeast Yorkshire is a must, though. Don't bother otherwise. One of the best clones I've ever tasted. https://www.worcesterhopshop.co.uk/product-page/timothy-taylor-landlord-style-recipe-kit

    Secret to high gravity brewing

I've gotten big OGs by sparging loads and boiling for a long time. Time consuming, yes. However, I'm happy to put aside a day as I know a 12+% beer is going to provide me with months (years potentially!) of joy and happiness. :-)

    English Brown Ale

Wasn't going to bother brewing today so didn't do any R.O water. Woke up and changed my mind! Brighton water is good for brown ales so I went with that. I was lazy last week and kegged my TTL clone using closed transfer but didn't clean out the fermenter. Been sitting in the freezing cold...

    Pressurised fermentation gas anyone?

This is great. Brilliant work. I love making the most of fermentation gas. I flush all my Cornys with fermentation gas then do a closed transfer when it's finished fermenting. I keep it under pressure too so that I can jump start the syphon without having to hookup the big gas canister. It's...

    Pressure fermentor for fermentation fridge

    NEIPA All Grain Kit recommendation

Yep. Fair enough. Understand. Biggest piece of advice I can give for NEIPA is to make sure you get the water right. I use a R.O system these days, but used to use supermarket spring water before that. It's pretty vital. Maybe you could brew a West Coast IPA as a way of getting to know the...

    NEIPA All Grain Kit recommendation

I second Verdant's ESNW. Absolutely incredible beer. Make sure you use their yeast and water profile if you go for it.

    DIY Pressure Sprayer keg

Hey folks, I built a little beer keg out of a pressure sprayer if anyone's interested. Came in more expensive that I'd have liked, but was a fun project and is still cheaper than alternatives. It's an 11 litre sprayer, but should hold 12L no probs. Here are a few pics of the assembly...
