Lots of music to chose from.....Bowie, Bunnymen, Ash, etc... But I think I will go for Ballboy's ; "A day in space"......

    Second brew

Yep - looks good. At that bitterness level, it will probably too easy to drink ! With your records on this brew, once you start to drink ; you will be able to alter any part easily for the subsequent brew, (unless it is spot on to your taste first time....)

    Munich Malt Differences

Do i need to adjust ny water !? Cant read this report

Personally I would do nothing with Fife's water, if you were going for an IPA . You are somewhat similar to me in Dumfries and Galloway - which is even softer - but I would do is a small batch without any treatment and then the next one with, and then see what you prefer. If you bottle you can...

Another brew down the drain ??

As with everyone else's advice - go back to basics, so sanitation, good eqipment, good water (as you are in Fife - there should be no problems in your good/Soft water), etc, etc... One other thought is that you may think that as you ferment you will get clean "Beer" fermentation flavours - this...

Fyfe Robertson...in search of the perfect pint

Hello all, tripped over this one in Facebook land which had a gem of a TV appearance from 1973 of the reporter Fyfe Robertson on his musings on beer.....Hopefully you will be able to follow the link below...Enjoy.

    Talktalk scam e.mail

Hello everyone, some public service broadcasting now.... I had an e.mail today from purportedly my broadband supplier (Talktalk) which seemed to be giving me a refund as they had overcharged me or realised that big business should help out the little guy or something like that. It was from...

    beer clarity issues.

For me, your recipe looks fine - I think I would defintely leave the beer to condition longer. For your next brew I would advise doing a few bottles that you can monitor for clarity etc... With bottling my own brews the minimum I would look at would be 2 weeks at room temperature to prime my...

Suggestions for British hops for dry hopping?

I have got some Pilgrim in the freezer, and hope that I can use them for a variety of uses, from what I can make out they are similar to an English hop with more of a fruity character ??? (so IPA is a possibility ). Has anyone got any direct knowledge on use ? They might be on the right lines...

    Cara-aroma ; Weyermanns

Thanks for all the replies.... I usually do add Light Munich to many of my brews as I do love maltiness, so a small amount of Cara aroma hopefully will not give an overly dominant note (100 gram in 4kg)... All the best, David.

    Cara-aroma ; Weyermanns

Hi there, My next brew will be a "Strong bitter" and in my store cupboard I have some Weymermanns Cara-aroma aromatic malt (400 ebc). Has anyone used it before ? - and what overall impressions do you have in flavour ? My last Bitter used this aromatic malt , some Dark crystal, and Best Special...

    Witbier stopped fermentation??

Yes - pretty much that is it - bottle or barrel now. I have not done a Witbier, so 1.010 probably be typical (other members could contribute based on their experience...) The nearest to this I have done is a hefeweizen, where the final gravity was around 1.008 to 1.010. All the best, David.

    What are you drinking tonight.

Currently on one of my own Dortmunder export, which to be honest is rather like a slightly harsh supermarket own brand lager ..... It uses pale and Munich light malt, with a little Columbus for bittering and Hallertauer Mittelfruh for all the rest of additions... Nevermind ! Have got a can of...

    Witbier stopped fermentation??

If you are looking at a hydrometer, your reading when you make your beer should for example be around 1.050 (this is just an example not what it should be..) and when you finish fermenting it may be around (for example) 1.010 to 1.005..... i.e, the sugar has been converted to alcohol so there...

    Witbier stopped fermentation??

If you take a hydrometer reading - you can then see whether it is just a "fast" fermenting yeast, or it really is stuck.....

Yep - Fleabag (Series one) was exceptional. I hope I will not be let down by the second series....

    9 - 9 - 6 system.

Obviously being an old git helps in many ways in my ability to rant on many subjects...but this one is a cracker. Yes your average billionaire company owner will always put forward the case that his employees must work harder - he works so hard himself and so shouldn't everyone ?? Cut to the...
