    Volume way off!

Thanks for the reply - I have put the fermenter in my fermenting fridge now so when should I add more water? Asap? Presume I need to boil it and cool it first. My fermenting fridge will take care of the rest.

    Volume way off!

Yes it was a 60 minute boil. Nothing fancy. Just a bit fed up wasting money now. If its down to me then fair enough but I'm not sure it is. 18l strike plus 10l sparge and another 2l sparge is 30l - taking into account boil off and water retention in the grain I should easily end up at 23l!!!

    Volume way off!

Mashing with 18l and sparging with 10l as per instructions. Looked low after sparge so added another 2l of sparge water.

    Volume way off!

I have been getting some all grain kits from Get er brewed for using in my grainfather and so far all 3 fell way short of final volume. My last (tonights) required 28l at boil stage but I finished with just 17l. Never had issues with other kits such as brewolution. Are these kits not suitable...

    Easy Keg 5L

After much trial and error I have found a way to remove the plastic and rubber bungs.... I took a hacksaw blade and cut about 5 - 8mm from the centre of the bung. This really weakens it and allows it to pulled out with pliers/grips without damaging the keg. Hope this helps......

    Need a new hydrometer

I never considered have hydrometers for such specific readings. I just assumed a decent one would cover all angles. I will have to start researching the market.

    Need a new hydrometer

My hydrometer rolled off of the cupboard and smashed at the end of my last brew and I'm in the market for a new one. Just after some recommendations really. I know that they are not expensive but would like something decent and accurate. Cheers

    Grainfather disasters

Nothing wrong with biab. I went from kits to biab and was amazed at the difference. The grainfather can be a pain in the **** (for me especially - it seems) but its still early days for me and the advantages over biab are already evident.

I'm not knocking the grainfather at all it is a superb system and without doubt a thousand times better than my biab setup I used before! Its me thats the problem lol
