Been in the FV since Sunday, haven't seen a bubble!

Made my brew last Sunday, 9th Jan Haven't seen a single bubble rise through the airlock since. The lid of the FV seems to have bowed upwards a little but, apart from that, no apparent activity at all. Have I done something wrong, should it be bubbling?

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

Hi DeiselJockey, that could explain a lot then ... went to Brussels in the early 80's (81 maybe) to see AC/DC ... had a rule that that we could only drink the local brew ... never been the same since!! Cheers!

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

Cheers! I already have to put one of those on to eat my dinner. It's plastic and it has a little trough that cathes all the bits I drop. :) My forty pints are on their way!

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

Errr ... another question  the airlock has got a little red cap that fits over it's open top. Do I need to put that on it once I've started brewing or should I leave the lock without the cap? Thanks guys. p.s. O.G = 1044 I think!

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

:nono: Bad idea then, thanks for the steer. Couple of hundred quid then ... maybe I'll wait to see how I get on before I think about that! OK, so put it in bottles and I should leave my peasant ways behind and use a glass  Thanks for the advice :thumb:

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

I've just had a thought ... have to go for a lie down in a minute! here it is ... would it be ok to bottle the brew in 2 litre plastic bottles then, when I want to drink some of it either decant the amount I want into another vessel (maybe a small barrel) then decant from there, through a...

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

I'm a 'drink-it-straight-from-the-bottle' bloke so I'll have to figure out a way of not getting gobfuls of yeast! Maybe I'll try to find an easy way of filtering it before drinking. Thanks guys.

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

Thanks guys! So, is there no way to get the 'yeast sediment' out before bottling? Can it be filtered out before drinking or will I end up drinking lots of yeast sediment from the bottom of the bottle? Cheers!

First time home brewing - couple of questions!

Well, I've taken the plunge ... bought a kit - Beginner's Lager Starter Kit, Coopers lager - and it's sitting in front of me now. I've read this post on how to get the most of my kit - http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=3216 and I've read the instructions on the kit a few...

Got a kit - well a tin - for Christmas!

Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice! Not sure if this is the right place to post follow-up questions, but here goes ... part of the instructions says 'place in a warm area at between 18 - 21 degrees C' - how can I regulate the temperature to be that precise? is there technology for...

Got a kit - well a tin - for Christmas!

Hello peeps! My other half bought me a home brewing 'kit' which consists of a tin of something very, very sticky and a little silver sachet of something. If you haven't already guessed, my experience of brewing is zero. The gift has prompted me to consider it and, having thought about it, I...
