    What to use as filter before plate chiller

    I simply use a stainless steel pan scourer stuffed into some 22mm tube. Works great and is very cheap. I change scourer every brew. Cheap and simple.

    Worthington's Red Shield - is this a primary yeast

    Thanks to you both. Red shield a 4.2% IPA - assumed it was the same yeast but heard or red white shield is now a secondary strain in bottle. I'll try culturing it and a small trial brew. Any more advise welcome though.

    Try your local curry houses, especially on a Friday,they're normally happy to be shot of cobra bottles. The 330ml ones are great! Alternatively hanging round bottle banks and simply asking is a great way to source bottles. Happy brewing.
