    Coopers Canadian Blonde

gredawarha 2 weeks??? I thought that if you left it for too long on the yeast it went awry?? Not knowing myself if it does genuinely make a difference, did you always do 2 weeks or move to it after some 1 week cycles? Any flavour differences? In fact any differences?

    Newby with questions

Up the duff indeed, I may have had something to do with it, but I am certain it has been immaculate conception. Who can speak with authority on such arcane matters ;)

    Coopers Canadian Blonde

Most of the kits I leave for a week too.. just to make sure, they have all seemed to come out ok!!

    Newby with questions

Hi Justvonn and welcome to the forum, relatively new here myself. Under the stairs is a favourite I think, although most beer kits are only a week... I get away with leaving it on the kitchen worktop. We are lucky to have a lot of space though. I wouldn't worry about temp too much, in my...

    coopers kits slow to start

I can't comment on how long they take but the fiery ginger beer on the forum is knockout.. my missus didn't like it much too dry and fiery for her. I would love to hear how well this one goes for you. On the whole the kits are so easy they should be almost infallible surely? ( i say this cos...

Stuff that's bothering me about my first brew so far

Wow, that is a lot of work you are throwing in there. I am a bit of a philistine I am sure as I am not an AG man. No time, small child, preggers missus, business to run and extension and conservatory to build.. (sleeping in there somewhere) Forgive then if I am being a little simplistic here...

Source for low cost flip top bottles?

Probably a health and safety issue .... I can't imagine any good reason unless they were being paid for the empties to be recycled?? try a different pub...

how long for ginger beer to clear?

Both, You can get them about 18" long, and they have more oomph to give, Just means it won't struggle to keep a big FV a the right temp at all. Like driving a bigger motor up a hill, no hassles when the engine is bigger so no strain and it will last longer. think that is a good analogy...

how long for ginger beer to clear?

I am not gonna bother till the winter when it starts getting a bit chilly again then go for one, you want one a little larger than you think you need as it will maintain heat more easily.

    fermentation rate for ginger beer

Well the idea of having sterilising fluid in the top stops any potential infection getting through, If you are brewing wine, then you can get a vinegar fly dying in the fluid and then contamination coming through. I would guess the chances are slim and the smart shoice is move the FV then put...

how long for ginger beer to clear?

2 hours lost, that is some impressive work there, Can't argue with that!! 9% may be a little high, heck I am worried about my 7% and brain bursting potential!! Surely ginger beer should always be cloudy anyway, not saying that the recipe isn't right or anything but ginger beer should be that...

    Cleaning gubbins

rice and a thin bleach solution sounds pretty easy.. I use cola to clean my toilet as I am a hippy (and a tightwad) so maybe rice and cola?? I say this also because I have no bleach in the house... random I know but I am thinking the acetic (phosporic acid in non diet cola) and the rice would...
