is it alright to test beer?

just wait till you have it bottled and have to wait for it to be fully ready.. man that takes patience!
  2. golder247

Bottle colour ? Does it matter?

always best to keep them in the dark anyway I reckon... best dark space is in the fridge cooling down just before you start drinking :)

is it alright to test beer?

yeah test away, don't go necking pints of it.. it does help to understand what is happening throughout. It may not taste top banana till the end but that is the fun of it all..

    fermentation rate for ginger beer

I am finding that nutrient being added is always a good thing, I am unsure as to how it will affect the attenuation of the yeast? presumably increases it?

the recipe is on here just search for ginger beer, the pet bottles will come for the non carbonated water that you use for the ginger beer, saves buying stuff that you won't use.. apparently tap water isn't good for ginger beer as it can impart ick flavours..

    New Brewer!

don't worry too much about the bottles, get down your local and get some kopparberg bottles, the labels fall off in no time after the first wash and they are just the right size for priming. keep going with the turbo cider I think, so much choice and variation you can keep going forever and not...

Try turbo cider without doubt and instead of getting carbonated water get still and make some ginger beer... you will fill the bottles back up but they won't stay full for long. I would stick with collecting from the local too, can't go wrong with glass bottles. Happy rebrewing

    Storage?

I am curious about this one. Been brewing a fair bit (kits though) and have just stored it willy nilly about the house. It has been fine in spite of the rather crazy temp. I am sure it would be ok more or less anywhere.. although I may well be wrong. I only chill before I get drinking...

    Storing sterile solution

Pat, As I am aware it should stay fine for a matter of months, I change mine after every batch though. That is to say that I wash and sterilise everything, including the bottles for the bottling at the same time as I am usually brewing another batch on the same day as bottling. I only ever...

Life is a box of chocolates and all that, bit of a pisser. I am dealing with my ridiculously hormonal and argumentative missus who may have to be patioed at this rate. My sympathies fella!
