Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale Review

Well chaps after 4 weeks in the bottle i tried one and it is bang on, i would say this is better than the Razorback which i liked, it seems more balanced, not too hoppy or bitter to me.

My first brew tastes of bleach/chlorine :(

Hi Snetty What did you sterilise with and how did you do it? A layer of sediment at the bottom of each bottle is normal can you post a pic? :hat:

    Beers from over the pond

Afternoon Chaps, Just returned from a trip to New York and whilst there I thought i would see how our former colony was getting along with there brewing and try a couple. Have to say they seem to be doing remarkably well, i tried the Brooklyn brewery lager which is cracking with its dry hopped...

Bulldog Four finger Jack American Pale ale.

I agree Dave it is all about taste, I bought it because i tried a sample at my LHBS while at a BIAB demo and thought it tasted really good I also have recently done the Bulldog Rajas reward which is superb. The chap who made the sample suggested it would be even better if the yeast was swapped...

Bulldog Four finger Jack American Pale ale.

Evening Chaps, i have had this bubbling away in the brew fridge for the last 9 days - smells great when you open the door. I thought i would check to see were it was at, the hydrometer was reading 1006 down from 1054 which by my calculation makes it 6.4%!!! I was surprised when i made the kit...

Brewferm Grand Cru-FV & sugar questions

On a 9L brew it is only going to work out at a max of 27x 330ml bottles which isn't too bad, I agree with you on the maturation Dave, I brewed mine in May last year and it took til around Jan before i thought it tasted about right. :hat:

Effect of low temperatures on bottle carbonation

I would have thought it will be fine, i suppose it is only like putting your beer into a secondary FV after fermentation has finished for the sediment to settle out. I dont suppose there will be a great deal of carbonation but warming it back up will get it going :hat:

A serious deep clean in progress and some advice needed

For the sake of your hands wouldn't it be better to buy a new one, and with the amount of chemicals you are buying you will be getting a visit from the Police  :hat:

    Fermentation fridge

Another point that maybe worth a note is try and get a fridge that is full width i.e 60cm, not a slimline version it just makes getting the FV in much easier. Just finished mine last week and it is working a treat. Once it has fermented your beer you can put the bottles back in to carbonate...

Staying with Kits or moving on?

I am happy with the quality of my kit beers and was quite happy to stay doing them, but as you get more absorbed in this creative hobby, it seems like a natural progression to move to producing a better result. There are some wonderful kits to try so my suggestion to you is try some more kits...

Festival Golden Stag Summer Ale + Brew fridge

Afternoon Chaps, I finished the brew fridge the other day so thought i would test it out with this Festival Golden Stag kit I got for my birthday, never thought i could get so excited about watching a fridge switching on and off! This is the 13th kit i have done now and all went as expected, if...
