    Kegs, "kegs" and other 'kegs'

Iceland in the UK usually sell 3l fizzy drink bottles. I have a few on hand in case batches come in slightly higher than 10l.

    Kegs, "kegs" and other 'kegs'

The 5l kegland versions are very good. I've had two in my fridge for a couple of years. Two lying on their sides takes up the majority of a shelve (with the ball lock posts facing forward). I use a mini regulator with a "pluto gun" style tap (kegland as well I think). You can get 50 x 16g co2...

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

You can use a steam condenser as well which utilise the clips I believe

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Ah sorry, misunderstood so looks like you already calibrated as per instructions. So are you getting a decent boil now?

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Temperature Probe Calibration If you find that your temperature probe is not reading the correct temperature for example if is reading over 100°C when boiling at sea level then a 2-point calibration can be performed. To enter 2-point calibration mode press Select on the device and enter the...

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Have you got an image of the main screen, showing current temp etc? I think you can recalibrate temp sensors according to the manual if you think they may be off.

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

It really sounds like PID settings, but you're sure it's set as off. Can you take a picture of your control panel screen and possibly the settings screen? Is it in manual mode? Not set to a profile?

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

There's a heat element percentage. Is this set to 100%? I got a good rolling boil with it set to 75% but less and it may struggle.

Brewzilla Gen 4 - Struggling to get to boil point

Have you turned PID off? There's no point having it on for the boil. Set boil temp to over 100c (say 103c), PID off and it should achieve a very vigorous boil (depending on your environment I suppose).

First brew on the new BZ4

Yeah for most styles it's probably not hugely important. There's definitely some satisfaction when you do hit the numbers though! I think I like to be close so I can repeat if needed next time. I definitely like making the same thing multiple times, tweaking little things.

First brew on the new BZ4

I've had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Also using Beersmith as a starting profile for a new BZ4. I've brewed for many years but used BIAB until now. My pre boil volume was significantly higher than expected, with the boil off lower (because i set the boil power lower than full -...

    Free Grolsh swingtop bottles SE26

Hi, I have about 20+ Grolsh swingtop bottles free for anyone that wants them. They've always been cleaned before storage so just need a little clean and sanitiser before use. Need to be gone before the 5th October. Collection only SE26 Cheers

    Oxebar PET "Kegs"

Yes they would work lying down I think. I have 5l kegland stainless steel kegs. Silicone diptube which sinks to the bottom. I've found it better with a small weight on the diptube as I found it often floated above the beer line for some reason. I guess a proper floating diptube would work well.

    Mobile dispensing cleaning beer lines

This is what I use. You just attach to a fizzy drink bottle. You can use the 5l stainless steel kegs on their sides if you want so you shouldn't have to take off the tap. You just need flexible silicone line as the diptube so it sinks to the bottom of the keg. I have two in my tiny fridge like...

    My first AG biab brew

I use protofloc. As you say 1/8 of a tab is about right (less than 0.5g on my hop scales). I'm sure Irish moss is also just as effective, but I haven't used in a long time and can't recommend quantities.

    My first AG biab brew

It just sounds like the krausen which is perfectly normal. How much Irish moss did you use? If you use too much you can get clumping of the krausen (sort of looks like cauliflower). I wouldn't worry though, it should drop out. I would suggest using towards the lower end of the recommended...

    Oine priming calculator

I use the beersmith calculator which also suggests 142g (corn sugar). I've never had an overcarbed beer - you can always adjust to preference next time if needed

Making an all in one system

It definitely won't go above 100c. It can go to 99c I think but I've never tried. I mash at maximum 70c, use it to raise the temp to 76c for mash out and then i take it out to boil. I often add it in for a whirlpool (hopstand) after the boil to hold it at 80c for 15 mins with hops in a bag. And...

Making an all in one system

I've used it with a 30l pot. I tend to do smaller batches nowadays (12l into fermenter) with a 20l pot. I think it's 1200w, would need to check. I think I would rather get a larger pot than two devices to heat? You could sparge (biab still), or liquor back? I don't really do many big beers, but...
