if its only going to ferment to about 1.018 i wonder why brewferm say only bottle when its down to 1.010 - 1.012 on the instructions :wha:

:oops: didnt rehydrate the yeast will do that next time. I'll aim for 1.018 then and bottle at that. Am using coopers plastic bottles so at least the shouldnt explode!

Am on my second brewferm kit, the Abbey beer. First kit was the Diabolo. Both of them have started off like crazy then stopped after about ten days. Hydrometer reading was still high so gave it a stir, and it bubbled steadily for a few days, checked again a week later after no airlock activity...

Am thinking of this for my next brew, am using Coopers PET bottles so they'll easily fit in the neck. I know I could transfer to another fermenting bin to batch prime but thought I'd sugar lumps will save me having to do this. Anyone tried this?

Am about to dry hop a wherry after reading a 'tweak' on another forum. Are pellets the same 'strength' as leaf hops, or do i need to adjust the amount of hops up / down if using pellets. Thanks

Can you use these with the mini keg top taps, ie is there a bit that presses out and is reueable like the normal mini keg bungs with the clear insert? thanks

Not seen any reviews of this so wondering how its rated. I like the sound of the 'big malty body' but lack of reviews is making me wary and wondering if i should just go for a Wherry / St Peters red / festival landlord as they get lots of positive reviews and never tries these either. thanks

haha yes maybe I should pop along! Anyway it might turn out alright, and at least the little one is alright, could have been worse than just a cut lip.

think I might just leave it then if yours turned out fine after doing the same thing. probably be struggling for time this week as well to start boiling stuff up. Anyway, a lesson learned for the future. Thanks for all the replies

any reccomendations of amount / type of malt extract? And do i just pour it in and stir around? Will it dissolve ok at the 20 degrees the fermenter is sitting at?

it's a brewferm Diablo kit. house is quite cold when heating not on, maybe down to 16 degrees.

so I was going to brew a Diablo 9L kit, but have just discovered that in my 30L fermenting bin there won't be enough liquid to cover my immersion heater. what do others do, do I get a smaller bin and if so is a 10 or 15 litre best. think the heater needs a minimum if 18cm liquid covering it...

GavH - how do you make the hop 'tea' that sounds a good idea!

I think i'm going to get a larger muslin bag and bung the hops in that, then they'll have more space and hopefully will be able to remove the bag with all hop bits in at the end before I bottle with the fermenter tap.

just got my first festival kit and wondering about the hops for it. I only have one fermenting bin so can i put the hops inside the mesh bag that comes in the kit to avoid them all mixing around which mean i can the use the tap on the bin to bottle it? Or do the hops need to float around more?
