    Ive just purchased a wilko hoppy copper bitter kit. For 8 quid it is a bargain but the reviews on here are general poor. Was planning to do it with a kilo of brown demerara sugar for an experiment. Any thoughts

    Wilko golden lager

    Just put one of these on with a 1kg bag of wilko brewing sugar and 250g of spraymalt light. Starting gravity was 1.040 and after 48 hrs its bubbling away nicely. £10 for the kit and sugar seems a bargain Anyone tried this kit??

    first bottling session

    Bottled my first ever brew today which was coopers canadian blond lager. It tastes very strong but I was surprised that its still a bit cloudy. Will it clear up in the bottle? I used half a teaspoon of sugar for 500ml bottles using measuring spoons. The original SG was 1.045 and it was bottled...

    Thanks for that. Towards the end of fermentation when I am checking the gravity readings the lid will have to be removed and then placed back on if its not right. Will this not be a big problem with infection. ??

    Brew update. I made the wort exactly 48 hrs ago. Sprinkled the yeast on and temp was 25. Within a few hours the lid on my bucket was flexing upwards due to the gas but not enough to engage the bubbler. The temp has now dropped to 22 degrees but the gas appears to have stopped. Not totally but...
