The 'Recommend me a TV series' thread

Schmigadoon! It’s a mini-series on Apple TV+ that parodies Golden Age musicals. Starring Keegan Michael Key, some SNL actors (Cecily Strong, Fred Armisen), and a bunch of popular Broadway actors (Kristin Chenoweth, Jane Krakowski, Ariana DeBose, etc).

    Hop curry

America's test kitchen podcast had a caller ask what to do with leftover hops. I recall recommendations were to use some in a rye-type bread and serve thick with butter or jam. Similar things were done in focaccia dough. I also heard about a quick pickle of the hops, treat it like saurkraut...

    What are you reading ?

If you enjoyed Red Storm Rising, check out Mark Greaney's book "Red Metal." The focus is a limited war between Russian and NATO. There's even an armored train that makes an appearance much like the one being used in Ukraine right now. "An armored train!? How preposterous."

    Berer Can Chicken

This method makes for really tasty chicken. I play with the rub depending on my tastes or mood. I like to do one chicken with the paprika, brown sugar, cayenne and another more savory with rosemary, thyme and pepper for example.

What have you been smoking on bbq?

Last weekend I made BBQ pork ribs (made a secret BBQ sauce) and Flannery beef ribs (smoked on day 1, then slow braised on day 2). My friend who is a great chef contributed meatloaf- wrapped a meatloaf in a bacon weave and smoked it using grapevine wood for about 2.5 hours. Applied a...

    Amsterdam

Late to the party, but for a great selection of beers, I very much love In De Wildeman and BROUWERIJ DE PRAEL . Even though it's just next to the shopping street, there's been quite many locals too. Pricing is quite decent in there.
