    Useful little bucket?

    Hi Scorrie.. I bought one of those buckets way back in September and have done all my Christmas mahing in it. I have since moved to an Argos cool box £18 or there abouts. no tap! after the mash I scoop the contents out with a jug into a mash bag inside the Oxfam bucket and batch sparge from there.

    flake rice

    Has anyone used flaked rice in pale ales and bitters. I have heard that this would give higher O G. If so is it used like flaked barley staight out of the bag or should it be cooked first

    Sugar question

    On the topic of vraious white sugars in there any difference in brew flavours if white sugar is substituted for either soft brown or demerara. I remember 'Dave Line s' Brewing beers like you buy' using them

    Forgot to sterilize the FV!

    I never go overboard with all this sterilizing. I generaly give all my equiptment a swill around with cold water and get on with the job in hand. I have been brewing since the late 1960s and Iam still around to tell the tale. As was said previously brewers of old never had all this technology...

    Wort boiling

    Thanks does this require the full amout of hops and sugar in the initial boil or should vthe hops be increased or decreased

    Wort boiling

    Could I boil the wort for 90 minutes in a 19 litre pot and then after straining off and cooling could I make up the volume to 23 litres. Would the method make a satisfactory beer
