    Sentimentality

I've got two brews done now, and am down to one bottle of each left. Do I keep them or drink them? One is a coopers Mexican cerveza from sept 14, the other is a Youngs American Amber ale from dec 14.

Yup, 1048 22 litres. Current SG is 1020 after 2 weeks

Brew 3 - Youngs American Pale Ale

That seems to have helped; the whole FV looks like a big pint now [emoji1]

Brew 3 - Youngs American Pale Ale

It's got a few white frothy bits on top but nothing major. I moved it this morning into a warmer room, was 18c when I checked earlier so fingers xd.

Brew 3 - Youngs American Pale Ale

Started it yesterday, no foaming or anything at the top yet, anything to worry about? Followed instructions to the letter, added yeast once temp dropped below 25 C. 1048 OG.

Youngs American Oaked Rum Ale Beer Kit

Mixed reports clearly! I've bottled it (no pun intended) and gone for the Youngs American IPA. Be nice to hear who you all get on with it though.

Brew 2 - Youngs American Amber Ale questions

Thanks, Yeastmaster, I'll take a look. Quite intrigued by the mentions of chocolate stout in other posts???

Brew 2 - Youngs American Amber Ale questions

I bottled it pretty much as per instructions; mixed it all on 27/11 and bottled it 14/12. Just started drinking it as I couldn't wait any longer! It's come out at 5.3% ABV, I put a little less than 25 litres into my FV, maybe 22/23. I used a different sugar for half of it, the same I used on...

Brew 2 - Youngs American Amber Ale questions

Hey all So I've finished my 2nd ever kit and it's turned out really well! It's the American Amber Ale by Youngs and I have to say, it's one of the nicest beers I've ever tasted. Very fruity (not sure if you'd call that 'hoppy' as I'm still learning lol) and the depth of flavour is great. I used...

    First brew questions

Just to conclude this thread, I've now tasted all the variations on sugar as listed above. It all tasted good but I got really good results using Billington Golden Granulated Sugar. The dark brown sugar was good but perhaps made the lager look at bit too dark. All in all a good first effort...

    First brew questions

Update: well I've bottled and labelled it all up now. I've got 10 bottles that were in the FV for one week and 35 that spent two weeks in there. I've experimented with different sugars etc. as follows (all 500ml bottles); 10 x 4g dark brown muscovado sugar 10 x 4g golden sugar 10 x 2...

    Cooper's FV tap question

Thanks guys, I did exactly that and I don't think too much has gone in. I sacrificed the last bottle or two and tipped it away. So now I just have to wait!!

    Cooper's FV tap question

Hi All I've just finished my first home brew and I'm bottling, but I've hit upon a question. I'm using the FV that comes with the Cooper's kit. Obviously, the tap is at the bottom but there's still 2 inches of beer left below the tap. I've just tipped the back up and supported it, and I'll let...

    First brew questions

Thanks for your posts chaps. Actually this was something I was already thinking about doing; I watched a Youtube video (Craig Tube) where he tried this with dark brown sugar and the results sounded great. I think I'll do my next ten bottles with the brown and take your advice for the next ten...

    First brew questions

Hi All I've been lurking a while getting some good tips etc., so thanks for all that, but I've now almost finished my first brew and have a couple of questions. First off it was a Cooper's Mexican Cerveza kit; everything cleaned, mixed as per instructions and kept for 8 days at 22 C. SG was...
