    flavour troubleshooting on SNPA clone

morning all, cracked open a bottle of my first AG last night; its only been in the bottle for a week but I was anxious to have a taste following some odd flavours and aromas when I bottled. I bought the grain kit from The Malt Miller, fermented with US-05. After a lot of reading, decided I...

    peltier cooler in broken fridge

well the fridge seems to work, which is nice. But, having done a little more research, i may not be able to use it as I wanted as its one of those "no freeze" single compressor fridge/freezer combos -- that is unless anyone has any ideas on how it can be used? I'm stumped...

    peltier cooler in broken fridge

aha... now that's interesting. I wonder what the chances are of it having lost its refrigerant? I would say the fridge is less than 5 years old (that is if age has anything to do with it). Maybe Ill just take my chances and pick it up. thanks

    peltier cooler in broken fridge

I have access to a fridge/freezer which apparently "just stopped working". i've considered collecting it, but wondering.... does anyone know if a peltier style cooler is powerful enough to cool half of a full size fridge? Im thinking to turn one half into a fermenting chamber of average temp 18C...

efficient wort chillers for kettle with no tap

my major concerns with putting a tap on my kettle are 1) doing it properly, and 2) keeping the tap clean. I am still considering the 2nd vessel with a tap, but I am probably leaning more towards fitting a tap on the kettle if I'm honest. If there is anyone near Oxford who is tooled up and...

efficient wort chillers for kettle with no tap

Rats! I suspected as much. I ended up having to start off with a sanitised jug through a sieve, then pour once I could easily handle the pot and pour. A second vessel with a tap is certainly an option, I have a spare fermenter I have considered putting a tap on. I'll mull that one over a bit...

efficient wort chillers for kettle with no tap

Hi folks, hope this is the right place for this sort of question, apologies if not.... managed to get my first AG done last weekend (NICE!), but don't have a wort chiller yet (Not so nice!) so this step was a bit of a pain. I want to go for the most efficient chiller possible as I am...

    Syphon or tap?

I was nervous about the trub getting into my bottles because the tap is at the bottom of the FV, but now I am beginning to regret my decision to go tapless. anyone know how far from the bottom of the FV the tap should be installed? might have to retrofit one.

thanks all!. Lots of very useful information and pleased to know I was on the right track with my thinking :thumb: 2 months!? hmmm, may have to try that next time as this is my Christmas batch. In fact, I'll just set a few bottles aside somewhere for the end of January... yes! thats it ;)

how close do you stick to the beer kit instructions

Having wet my appetite ( ;) ) brewing some cider a few weeks back, I have spent my time since then studying John Palmer's 'How to brew' as well as reading a few posts on the forum in preparation for my first beer brew this weekend. After much consideration, I settled on the Milestone: Old Home...

    keggle

The bit of gas (and beer) I managed to get out of it yesterday didn't smell too good so gave Kegwatch a call this morning, they will be collecting the keg in a few weeks time. :( Looks like it's back to the drawing board for me. oh well... a keggle was probably a step too soon anyway, so the...
