Have a go at simple AG

I did my first all grain brew today (first brew of any kind tbh!). It wasn't without it's struggles but it's all in the fermentation vessels and I'm hopeful athumb.. I made 10L of a SMASH Citra using BIAB; OG - 1.060 which was probably a little higher than I expected but I decided to keep with...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

My cascade and chinook grew pretty well this year (first year of growing) and got a nice batch of hops which I'm hoping to use this year. Cut them down in November to transport to my new place. Going to keep them under cover until February time and hoping they do well at the new house!

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I found some pesky aphids this weekend on my Chinook! I mullered them off with some soapy water, hopefully I caught them before they did too much damage!

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Photo of the cascade on 1st April: And then on the 17th April: Been growing pretty consistently since. I'll grab another photo this weekend for reference. I'm pretty impressed with them so far for first year growth.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

I have a cascade and chinook growing pretty well in pots from rhizomes. I built a short term structure for them to grow up last month but they have reached the top already. I need to work out what to fix them to this weekend!! :laugh8: Pictures to follow!

    Newbie Incoming!

:laugh8: Yeah I'm not quite sure where I'm gonna store all the new purchases - I'll need a new shed! Amazing to hear - I'll be growing cascade and chinook assuming all goes well. Hopefully I'll get a nice harvest that I can use to make some nice hoppy pales. What type did you grow for your...

    Newbie Incoming!

Thanks both! Yes brewing certainly seems to fit somewhere in between! I studied Chemistry and currently work as an analytical chemist, how about yourself? I think, to start with, I'll keep it simple and try some clone pale ales/IPAs but I do like most styles of beer so eventually I'd like to...

    Newbie Incoming!

So I have been scrawling through the forum for a few days and figured I should say hello; so Hello! I've been toying with the idea of brewing for some time and with my other half buying me some hop plants for Christmas, I suppose now is as good of a time as any, to get started! This forum...

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Thanks for that, I'll bear it in mind! I believe I need to go shopping athumb.. I checked and mine were ordered from essentiallyhops.co.uk. They came pretty well wrapped in some moss to retain the moisture and look (from my fairly inexperienced eyes) to be healthy.

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

Finally reached the end of the thread - really enjoyed reading all about the hop growing you guys have been doing! I received a couple of rhizomes for Christmas (A gentle nudge from my better half!!) and found this forum/thread which has been really useful to go through. I think I'll be...
