    1st timer to brewing

I put a Mango Jack IPA kit in the fermenting bin yesterday evening (around 6pm) and there doesn't seem to be any activity. The lid is on tight and there is a slight amount of pressure building underneath but nothing significant or movement in the bubbler. Is this normal as I'm getting a bit...

    Hard cider

Mine didn't say refrigerate after opening as it was home made but, that's common sense anyway. I can now warn everyone about the dangers of consuming fresh apple juice that has been in the fridge for more than 3-4 days. I got e-coli from mine and have never felt so ill. I'm on antibiotics and...

    Hard cider

Hi all A friend of ours has a small apple orchard and makes his own apple juice. As he gives us so much of the stuff I thought, why not make some rough cider with it so I put 5 litres into a demi, sprinkled a small amount of cider yeast then applied the bung and bubbler. It's been bubbling...

    Brewing kits

Thanks. I've got that exact kit and plan to make it over the next couple. I planned to put an extra 25g of cascade hops in but, may just leave the first brew as standard and pimp the next one as recommended by a few members on here. I plan to leave it in the garage too as my wife will only...

    Brewing kits

Has anyone tried the Mangrove Jack pink grapefruit IPA? I've had the grapefruit IPA's from M&S and they're very good. Apparently this one is similar to Brewdog's Elvis Juice which I quite like. I picked up a pack of it today and may make it up tonight.

The Range- Make Your Own Home Brew, IPA Review

AleDefender, how did yours turn out using your own hops?

I remember the Atherton grit in pocket incident very well but, come on there's a big difference between having a little bit of grit in your pocket and brazenly taking chunks of sandpaper onto the pitch to scrub the ball with between overs. :laugh8: With around 16 TV cameras covering every part...

Sorry, does the lme come with the kit? Also, what's the difference between using dextrose and normal sugar?

    Brewing kits

Did you try the American IPA or just the pale ale? Also, what sugar do you use and can you lower the ABV content by restricting the sugar? Thanks

    Brewing kits

I checked out the Young's American IPA kit which they say comes out at around 6.5% alcohol. I'd prefer something not quite as strong and quite like the sound of Mangrove Jack's pink grapefruit IPA which they claim is styled on Brewdog's Elvis juice which is really nice. I suppose it's possible...

David, cricket balls are harder and more durable than baseballs. They are normally replaced every 80 overs (which is 480 deliveries) or if it goes out of shape or is damaged. As for the booing and football type crowds, personally I have no problem with it. I think it adds to the excitement and...

    Brewing kits

Thanks for input guys. My favourite commercial beer over the last couple of years is St Austell Breweries Proper Job which is also made in my neck of the woods. I'd like to find a recipe close to that if possible.

    Brewing kits

Hi all, I'm giving home beer making a go again after many years away from the bobby. Since then my beer tastes have evolved away from lager (yuk) and for the last 10 years or so have been a real ale drinker with my favourites being nice hoppy IPA's. I'm planning to start off with a couple of...
