Oh, and I ended up using 4g of brewing sugar/500ml rather than the planned carb drops. How about you?

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

Looking good Coopsy:thumb: I also bottled on Saturday and had a FG of 1.005 so I am expecting the ABV to be 4.5% The liquorice is distintive in mine also but hopefully not too much to overpower the maltiness, but then I do like liquorice. Will be checking the taste in a couple of weeks :drink:

    Coopers Original Stout Review

Hi Lee, I'm not an expert but would it be possible to prime this with something like Dark Muscovado sugar to add some deeper flavour?

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

Update. Still have this in the FV, no regular activity noted. I have taken a gravity reading and getting 1.005 so I am expecting the ABV to be 4.5% The stout looks to be clearing but is quite flat, hopefully this will improve in the bottle. The liquorice flavour is very noticable. Not...

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

Hi coopsy. Good luck with this, I cant wait for mine to be ready. I dont know how the powder compares to the sticks I used but with 2x 10g sticks I can really taste it in my 1st gravity reading after 6 days. You might want to hold back a bit unless you really want a strong liquorice taste...

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

Took the first gravity reading tonight, showing 1.006 which will work out to around 4.4% (and still might increase) which I am happy with. The beer is nice and dark and still a little cloudy. It has a slight smell of liquorice and a good taste of it too, more than I expected. I assume this may...

    Abv?

It will. I have seen info suggesting you add 0.5 to your abv to get the final abv.

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

So, I used 500g Spray Malt Medium, 500g Brewing Sugar and about 200g Dark Muscovado Sugar. Went into the FV and was at 25 degrees when I took the OG (1.035)

Coopers Stout with Liquorice - It's on !

Right, got this going on Thursday after much pontification. I added 2x 10g hard liquoerice sticks to the boil plus for good measure 2x star anise and about 2 tea spoons of caraway seeds. Unfortunately I let it boil again after adding the sugar, hope that doesnt hurt it :hmm:.

    Mexican Cerveza

I have done this kit recently. It was my first homebrew and after reading this forum I upped to timescales to those mentioned by Slid (I actually had it in my shed a day after bottling then brought it back inside when I realised I needed warmer temps. Anyway, it is still conditioning after about...

    Licorice Brew.

I'm planning to get one/two to disolve. I put one in a bottle of vodka a couple years ago and that disolved nicely so hoping it will work in hot water.

    Coopers Stout with Liquorice

Cant beat those prices, just ordered the Stout to get delivered to my local Tesco Saturday. Bargain. Might be a thread on this but I also notice many HB kits in boxes for £20 +. Why so expensive?:wha:
