    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

I have the hazy ipa in the fermenter now. It's been going a week and while there was activity, it's all gone a bit quiet. Took a sample and sg read 1.022 but I'm not convinced as the sample was a lot of sludge. Should I be concerned as I'm wondering if its stalled. My last 2 brews have been a...

    Inkbird ITC-308 Question

sorry more pictures sent then intended! so if I switch the delay down or off, the heat will cycle on and off instantly? Risk of damaging the inkbird?

    Inkbird ITC-308 Question

Hi All, I recently ordered an Inkbird to keep my brews at a constant temperature. I don't use a fridge for temp control (other than cold crashing) but my current temp controllers are connected to heat belts and they work fine. They are significantly cheaper than the Inkbird, see attached pic...

    Back to basics!

Following a no brew period of circa 6 months, I have just brewed a couple of kits which I have successfully done many times before . My last few brews prior were extract recipes that turned out extremely well so I'd like to think my technique and quality of beer has improved dramatically . That...

    Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit IPA

yes up to a point it will improve but left too long the hop flavour and aroma will dissipate. sounds like its time for you to start a new one. mine actually has not turned out as good as usual, in fact my last 2 brews have not been a great success but will post this separately.

    Extract Hazy Daze using Oats

Hi All, Some advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at converting an all grain Hazy Daze clone recipe to extract and the original recipe calls for Flaked Oats. My questions are: 1. Can Quaker Oats be used? 2. Can they be steeped instead of mashing as the original recipe states? 2. If...

    Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit IPA

yes I do think it makes it more flavoursome albeit, I'm wondering if it was too much cascade. perhaps adding more of the other hop instead may have been better

    Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit IPA

have brewed this many times before as well as doing my own recipe and it's consistently good and popular. from recollection have fermented in a keg in 7 days, force carbonated keg and drunk in as little as 9-10 days. have one on at the mo and added an extra 25g cascade when dry hopping.

    EXTRACT NEIPA RECIPE

Hi All, Very new to extract recipes and trying to get to grips with a recipe I have taken from Brewers Friend and scaled down. I have copied and pasted the key elements below and would really appreciate your help. My key question relates to hop additions in bold. I understand the 2 hops in the...

5 litre Batches of Beer. Why?

I am brewing a 5l batch as it is my first extract and a new recipe I wanted to try before going for a bigger volume. I have to say I like the option of not having to brew to a full 23l as I did with kits. That said, for this 1st extract, I seem to have miscalculated the boil off ratio but...

    1st extract brew, help....

yes, I wondered about it turning out darker than planned due to the 1 hour boil but I understand hop utilisation wouldnt work without the dme already in. with such a small batch I wasn't sure if half the dme at the beginning with the rest at the end would work? just to clarify, there were 2...

    1st extract brew, help....

thanks very much. I've already pitched the yeast. rather than open a 1kg bag of dme, could I add beer enhancer, if so, how much and how much water to mix it in? not much room left in the small fermentet

    1st extract brew, help....

Hi All, Have attempted my 1st extract brew using DME and a recipe from brewers friend called citra smash. I wanted to try this as a 4 litre batch so followed the recipe below. 500g light dme boil for 60 mins 3g citra 20 mins 8 g citra 10 mins 8 g citra flameout. The recipe called for 10.18 l to...

    MJ Helles lager stink

Hi All, I am now on my 3rd batch of this kit. The 1st one was great and very popular. The 2nd one kicked off awful smells during fermentation and did not disappear after fermentation and I ended up chucking away 23 litres as I thought it was a bad batch. The 3rd and current one is kicking off...

    Extract brewing help

thanks very much darrellm, so for the boil, if I want to ferment between15-20 litres, how much water should be used for the boil? If I ferment 15 litres will this be a problem in a 23l corny keg as I now brew all my batches in the corny? And why does one not add all the DME at the start of the...

    St Peter's Honey Porter

I brewed this kit back in December and even after tasting it recently the honey taste and aroma is still very prominent. I don't think I will brew this again as it has an almost soapy taste at the end. Not the best in my opinion.
