I'll have a look at it and see, if I can sort it great, if not i'm happy to move on at this point! :laugh8:

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Hi guys, Just over two weeks since transferring to PB and had a little taste to see how things are coming along and it seems it isn't carbing up at all, am I a bit hasty? There is quite a lot of headspace in the pb as there is just over 4l in a 10l pb, could this have an adverse effect on the...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

So it's been 2 weeks since I last pitched... It still read 1.028 on the hydrometer aunsure.... So I have transferred it to a 2 gallon PB (the smallest I could find) so there is a lot of headroom which probably won't hurt, I've primed it, now to wait a bit longer and see how it tastes. It has...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Ok cool, so a mini keg with one of these would work as a pb? https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=mini%20keg&PN=Mini-Keg-Bung-with-Pressure-Valve%2ehtml#SID=196 Was thinking of putting my batches in mini kegs anyway so this is a good excuse to get hold of one and try it out!

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Tested the hydrometer, did my best to get water at 20C but ended up with 21.6C, it read 1.002 so adjusting from that my OG would have been 1.048 and SG when last taken 1.028 which gets me a tad closer to where I want to be...

    Hello!

Hi all, I've already had lots of supportive advice on my first brew and am really impressed with the forum, I've already found answers to a lot of questions just searching the forums. A bit about my beery tendencies, I'm a big pale ale and IPA fan and took up home-brewing as a result of...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Going to test the hydrometer tonight, if it's all good, I'll wait another week and re test.. and hopefully bottle it up!

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

It is possible that the mash was a bit warm, I was turning the gas on and off to try and maintain the temperature and something I will be doing for my next brew is once I'm at the right temp, put the lid on, flame out and wrap with a blanket. I'm also thinking of getting hold of a small cooler...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Regarding the clarity it's very hazy, that could have a lot to do with the amount of yeast that's been pitched but also all the hops went straight in the boil and for dry hopping, no hope socks, so that could also be contributing to it. Will probably need a cold crash before bottling to help it...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

I'm using a hydrometer There is, about an inch thick I guess if the SG doesn't move I'm just worried about bottles exploding so if it doesn't I could condition in some sanitized coke bottles with less priming sugar? And put them in a bucket with a lid...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Thanks guys for the responses, for the latest pitch I did buy another packet of S-04 just in case the first was a duff. I think if I can't get the SG down any further I'd be tempted not to bottle, ditch the batch and try again. I will give it at least a week since the last pitching before...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Hi and thank you, I had a taste at the two week mark when it should have been finished, it tasted a bit sweet but otherwise was pretty good, bitter in a hoppy way and it has always smelt good when I open the fv, probably should have tried again yesterday but I was keen to get it measured, re...

    Newbie Stuck Fermentation

Hi all, Newbie brewer here, doing one gallon BIAB and having a bit of a nightmare with my first brews fermentation. It's stuck at 1.030 despite re pitching and 3 weeks in the FV but I'll go through start to finish and hopefully someone can see where I've gone wrong. So the brew is a pale ale...
