    R.I.P Bradley Lowery

Poor little fella. R.I.P. Jermain Defoe's support and making some of Bradley's dreams come true has been exemplary.

    Blowers announces his retirement.

Classic piece of commentary but nothing to do with Henry Blofeld unfortunately. :)

Beer that goes bang in the night

Is this where your understanding has gone AWOL causing your rude outburst. The brew was in a demijohn not a pressure barrel.

Beer that goes bang in the night

Yeah. I do it all the time. Make stuff up and post it on what until now has been a helpful site. Thanks for your input as meaningless and pointless as it is but it probably make you fell big. Edit. This reply now looks a bit OTT but previous posts have rightly been edited making it look a bit...

Beer that goes bang in the night

You have not read my initial post thoroughly have you? I clearly stated that the bung had blown from the demijohn. In answer to your next question yes i do know about PSI.

Beer that goes bang in the night

More or less. I have a stem of rigid plastic tube which fits into the bung hole which i then connect to my flexible plastic blow off tube. So the hydrometer had actually sealed in the stem.

Beer that goes bang in the night

That was my reasoning but summat sent it up there. Obviously a schoolboy error on my part one not to be made again. Any road. Beer and hydrometer are fine which is more than can be said for the curtains and the towel smelt lovely.

Beer that goes bang in the night

As i didn't need it for owt else for a while i could see no harm in keeping it in there to see how things were progressing. I was wrong! I seem to recall reading on here that someone always left it in, albeit in a FV.

Beer that goes bang in the night

After reading clibits excellent post for simple AG brew i decided to give it a go a couple of days ago. Kept it simple (and cheap) 1kg Maris Otters, Target hop pellets (reduced), Wilkos yeast and off i went. It all went well and managed to get a reasonably full, but not to full imo, demijohn...

    Yeast compatability

I have now brewed 8-9 kits and have enjoyed drinking them all, some more than others. My problem is i only have enough room to store one full brew in bottles and one in a keg though both brew are mainly not fit to drink at the same time although they may overlap at the end/start of one batch. It...

Old sayings. (parents used to say)

When i was a kid, late 50s early 60s, the sometimes reply to "whats for tea Mum" was "3 jumps at cupboard door" or "3 jumps at table leg". Now in my 60s still not got a clue what it meant, if i think on i will ask her tomorrow though i suspect it meant "we're skint so bugger all".

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

Well, what a difference a week and half makes. When i do my bottling i have been doing one into a clear wine bottle to keep an eye on for it clearing. Any road curiosity got the better of me tonight and as the trial bottle was crystal clear i gave it a go (or more accurately giving it a go as i...

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

Having dropped to 1010 and held since yesterday i decided to bottle it today . Had a little taste and it wasn't that bad although a bit bland. Given what i have got bottled and barreled i should be able to let it mature till Christmas so here's hoping.

    2 can kits v 2 can brew

Thanks for the reply's. My Baldrick type cunning plan may not be quite what i thought. Probably do the mild as it should be and maybe try the St Peters ruby 2 can kit.

    2 can kits v 2 can brew

Having had reasonable success with my single can brews (even the Coopers AIPA i was unsure about seems to now be going ok) i was thinking of moving on and trying a 2 can kit, presuming these are superior in some way. Are these 2 can kits basically just 2 single cans of the same extract or are...

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

Well as the air lock has more or less stopped burping i thought i would take a reading today and the brew is down to 1020, so probably still a bit to go yet. Couple of thing i noticed when taking a sample that i had not noticed with my previous brews. After taking the lid off the fermenter i...

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

Still no signs of activity this morning. Popped out at 10 o'clock, got back at 1 and the air lock was bubbling away nicely. So after approx 40hrs from pitching the yeast there was some decent activity. This seems quite a long time compared to the other 3 brews i have done or is it not unusual...

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

I have no idea if this is relevant but i have just had a look on the Cooper Enhancer packet where it states that 1kg will make 23ltrs to 4.5% so i am thinking my extra 500g of sugar could affect the o.g. to the extent that it has or is this newbie's logic. Following Godsdog post i have just...

    O.T.T. Coopers I.P.A. O.G.

Just done the Coopers IPA from Wilkos today. At 23ltrs the recipe calls for 1.5kgs Light Dry Malt. This is my 4th brew and the last 2 brews i have done, not Coopers, i have used brew enhancer so decided to go the same route again using 1kg plus 500g of brewing sugar that i had lying about. I...
