    Flat Lager in King Keg

Even when I pour slowly, like open the tap a tiny bit, there is no head at all. I was pretty careful about not oxidising it when I siphoned (no splashing) and the tap was tightly shut and I used vaseline on the lid, but it does seem like something has gone awry. I might try to force some more...

    Flat Lager in King Keg

Yeah man, I actually primed it with about 150g of glucose. I read about the wet cardboard taste, but this really just tastes like if you've left a pint beside you and fallen asleep for a few hours. Lager but just flat and not really pleasant. Not sure if that's the same thing.

    Flat Lager in King Keg

Maybe I could get everyone started on the good stuff then break out the keg  .

    Flat Lager in King Keg

Zero head on it either. Maybe oxygen played a part. I didn't gas the keg when I sealed it up :o I might try to drink some but it's pretty rough. It came free with a starter kit so I'm guessing no big loss anyway. Not sure about making anyone else drink it. Not the best advertisement for home...

    Flat Lager in King Keg

Yeah, I put some more in a while ago. First bulb went in so I put another in and the release went off and sent it back out. So it must be holding.

    Flat Lager in King Keg

I made the mistake of priming a lager kit into a King Keg. It tastes like flat Kronenbourg, after 2 weeks at 20C and 2 weeks cold conditioning in the fridge. Is it likely to get any better with age? Is there anything I could do? Or shall I chuck it and get an ale in there asap? Cheers

King Kegs - Are They Really That Bad?

Anyone care to suggest some kits that may be ideal for a top tap King Keg? Wouldn't want mine to go to waste. The lager I just sampled out of it is pretty lifeless it has to be said. Then again I didn't CO2 it before I sealed it. And it has only been cold conditioning for 2 weeks. :?

How much lack of fizz are we talking here? My first batch (a lager) went into the King Keg.

SHOULD I ADD BREWING SUGAR OR NOT?

I thought brewing sugar wouldn't affect the taste. Or is that Glucose?

    Coopers Original Stout Review

Thanks for the tip, I may just add extra dark spraymalt.

    Coopers Original Stout Review

Can you describe what kind of flavour the black treacle adds? I have stout drinking uncles and pals who are always at me to brew some. Going to go with the Coopers kit, 500g Dark spraymalt, black treacle and maybe some dark brown sugar. Was also going to add some cocoa powder at bottling but...

    Bottling session finished

Did you use a little bottler? I used if for the first time on Saturday and knocked about 2 hours off my bottling time :thumb: By the way, what did you use to upload your pics if you don't mind me asking?

How do you organise your bottled beer storage?

I have my bottles in milk crates and use different coloured crown caps for each batch.
