The sight glass is a good idea. I often wonder how much volume there is while the pipe is in place. They could also have had the graduation markings in the inside of the malt pipe.
Not sure, having seen negative reports, when this was first released, elsewhere.
Does the UK version have a glass or plastic sight tube?

At least with a continuous stainless steel pipe, there's a good chance of being able to keep it clean.

Checking volume can be difficult, when malt pipe covers the internal markings, and insulating jacket covers the external ones, To take reading, I use a calibrated stick, a spare mash paddle with markings drawn on.
With end of stick just touching liquid, stick mark level with top of tun, gives volume.
Would need alternative marks, for correct readings when boiler extension in place.
