Just wondering if anyone has brewed any of these before and what the results were like, and how it compares to something like coopers which is my go to.

I take it this must be new to market then if no one has used it?

Made up to 36 pints as per instructions with 500g medium malt,480g dex. Bottled half of it, then dry hopped the remainder with 33g of cascade for a few days - world of difference!

Any feed back from anyone who has tried these kits ? Are they made by Youngs as seem similar to Youngs Harvest packaging ! Seem to be on sale @£10 at Spitting Feathers Homebrew ...

Not sure about the Hoptimum but I'm 99% certain that their Hoptimum 2 range are rebadged Muntons Connoisseurs range. Their description of each beer is word for word the same as the Muntons

Cheers. Tom

I had not seen these kits before, but used to frequent the shop that Spitting Feathers had in Bolton. The proprietor, a guy called Seb, probably gets his kits from Muntons and I can't imagine there is another UK manufacturer.
He also seems to be about the same price as on-line suppliers, so maybe I should drive down and get my next order free from delivery charges.

I've had a few wine kits from him. He's a good guy. He delivered them personally as he was in the area

Cheers Tom

Thanks for that . May try the Hoptimum 2 Porter kit as hubby likes Dark Ales plus an IPA ! Spraymalt on the site looks very cheap @ £3.50 .Also may try a Superior 7 Shiraz kit . Will probably get via Mail Order .Anyones reviews on Spitting Feathers would be welcome as sometimes use Brew2Bottle .

I'm currently about half way through the Superior 7 Shiraz. It's ok but I found the South Africa Red and Malbec a bit sharp, a bit acidic for my taste. That said I drank every last drop and enjoyed them once I adjusted to them.
One of the other members on here has done the Hoptimum 2 (licking lips) Traditional Bitter and loved it.

Cheers Tom

Clearly Muntons made kits, as others have said - they have the Muntons yeast. 1.8 kg kits are Connoisseurs kits rebadged. About the same price too, maybe marginally cheaper. The 1.5 kg kits I initially assumed were the Premium range, but they don't seem to map across neatly. Some might be smaller versions of the Connoisseurs kits. But the 1.5 kg ones list malt and barley extract, which means some could be Geordie kits (which Muntons make and would explain the price). If I lived nearby I might take a punt on the 1.5 kg kits because they might be a bit of a bargain, depending upon what they were like. The 1.5 kg Muntons Premium Bitter kit is decent, and costs about £14. So if you could get someisimilar for £10 that would be good, especially as the DME is cheap too!

I was the one who made the hoptimum 1.8kg traditional bitter with half medium spray malt half brewing sugar. After 4-5 weeks in the bottle it was delicious :-) highly recommend them
