And for every one that puts forward a successful daft request there is an equally idiotic person in a position of authority who rubber stamps it! Unbelievable!

    What did you brew today?

How the heck do you get the wort that clear out the boiler? At best my wort is murky but last brew was muddy looking. I use protofloc, grain basket and G4 bottom plate ?

Great advice thanks all and best I get a bottle tree! 👍 Sorry all, one last question - do the dish washer tabs not effect head retention in the same way as washing up liquid? Or is that sorted with the rinse and sanitiser stage before filling?

    Base malts for stout

Good point Stu, I have centennial, cascade, mosaic full packets, 40g magnum. Also have home grow EKG 150g , Fuggles 100g but wasn’t sure if I should use them as the AA isn’t known but could use a typical values? What sort of IBU would you aim for with the malt bill?

Hi Jason, I didn't think the water would get up the bottle neck properly to clean in the dish washer? I'll give that a go, cheers! Anything different recommended in the way of the DW tabs or cleaning products?

    Base malts for stout

Hi Brewsters I’m trying to use up old grains but am very low on MO base (750g) so was wondering if you could use Light Munich (1.5kg) and Vienna (2.9kg) malt as alternatives in a stout? I’ve also got 2kg of brown malt, aromatic, roasted barley, carafe 3, plenty of chocolate malt plus some odd...

Have you guys got any useful bottle cleaning gadgets you can recommend e.g. alternative more effective that bottle brush? I quite often have yeast etc up the bottle sides as well as the bottom of the bottle so needs a good cleaning. And still can’t afford the leap to kegs !

    Re-using yeast from current brew

Thanks Baron, I like kveik. So doesn’t matter if it’s dry or wet yeast?

BIGGEST Balls up to date!, what’s your biggest fail?

I’ve done the same but spotted it earlier thankfully. My latest episode which left SWMBO with hands on hips and foot tapping, you know the look, was an amazing gusher! Was a stout bottle which I knew had lots of trub in the bottom so decided to open in the kitchen sink. When I cracked it the cap...
