    Hco3 fluctuations

What type of variance do people experience? Mines gone from 111 to 48 between March and May.

Ss brewtech brew bucket mini 3.5 gal

So I'm considering this: Ss brewtech 3.5g brew bucket mini I currently brew between 5 and 8 litres and ferment in kettle. I bottle straight from the kettle. Why am I considering the brew bucket? Honestly, just because I can. I'm not sure if FIK is working for me, I've still a few brews to...

    Gushing bottles

So 2 different brews have produced gushing bottles. Aside from an infection or wild yeast, could a gushing bottle be a result if poor attenuation and refermenting and producing too much co2 in the bottle? I'm not getting any off flavours or any wild tastes, but that's not proof of anything!

    Buxton Nuts & Crosses

During a trip to Thanet and most of the micropubs there, the winner of the best beer of the trip goes to something closer to home: Buxton Nuts & Crosses As they describe it, decadent full bodied, smooth and lovely aroma of hazelnut (even with my post covid sense of smell, or lack of). Nuts or...

    Brewfather - flame out hops

How can I account for the ibu from flame out / 0 min hops without getting ibu from the previous hop additions (which I remove at flame out) in brewfather?

Water treatment - when to add

I usually get my required water volume and add Camden, calcium etc whilst it's heating. The obviously mash in the grains. I've seen in CBC video, calcium and/or gypsum egg added with the grains. When do you add yours?

    Mild

After another hiatus, I'm back brewing. Down sized to the Malt Miller 12l pot to do biab on the stove. Also fermenting this one in the kettle, which is a first. Good brew day in all. Started at 11ish and pitched at 13.30. Haven't used the ic for a while as I used to cool overnight, but with a...

Equipment For Sale Various bits - possible all grain/biab starter set

I need to down size, so I have the following available. Ideally collection unless you know of a decent courier? Would make a great starter set (with a few extras required). 30l s/s pot with 1/2” ball valve - done around 20-30 brews on induction. £60 Copper immersion chiller, 10mm with...

    Sink waste plumbing

Hi all, Does the attached image look a logical way to plumb the waste in the kitchen. Previously all the appliances and boiler overflow connected under the sink, but we'll have limited space under there with the new kitchen, plus the proposed would eliminate a right angle turn lose...

    Combi Boiler

I planned to ask this question on Screwfix but the community site doesn’t send me an email to set up my account. I can’t be arsed trying endless forums, so…. We’re fitting a new kitchen and noticed a flexi hose connecting the water in pipe to the central heating return pipe. One of the valves...

    Back to kits - questions

I'd call myself an all grain brewer, but living in a flat it's proving problematic. So back to kits I go, although I only ever did 2 over 6 years ago. I'm ready to do a Ritchies Simply Lager with 1kg medium spray malt, liberty bell yeast and dry hopped with solero. Ideally, should the spray...

    Fermenting in Kettle

Anyone ferment in their kettle? Reason I ask is I biab and now use hop bags. I was thinking rather than transfer to another vessel, I could pitch yeast once cooled?

    Rauchbier with kveik yeast

Anyone done this? I have 2kg of bestmaltz i need to use and really need to use cml dry kveik due to lack of fermenting temp control. I've used the cml dry kveik before, but on english hopped ales and couldn't detect the orange flavour some report. Any comments?

    Bottle Swap / Tasting Buddy

Apart from the comps on here I don't have anyone for constructive criticism. Guys at work just 'love it'! Free beer I suppose? I know a lot of you swap around, but anyone fancy being a regular taster of mine? Ideally I would get some in return, which would also be useful to me. I've done 14...

    Suitable hop filter?

Does this look a suitable hop filter in a boiler? Filter My bazooka always catches my grain bag and has also disassembled itself. Stu.

    Brewfather - no chill

Does anyone use brewfather, no chill in the boiler and leave the hops in? If so, do you use the whirlpool / no chill time in the equipment settings? As you'd expect I often use flame out and or 5min hop additions, but dont account for the bitterness they may add while cooling. Would I set...

    Stu brü days

Thought I'd jump in and create some kind of brew log... I'll kick off with my 14th brew of the year, a simple saison. I think the majority of the recipe influence came from Greg Hughes, if not a direct copy? Day 1 - mash and boil Day starts with lugging the brew pot and other brew day...
