    What are you drinking 2024.

Not expecting it to be hazey but really enjoying this pale ale with Citra, Cascade and Mosaic - lovely grapefruity bitterness. @dad_of_jon that Garth can cracked me up !

    Cashless pub.

I always keep a bag of coins handy to pay for parking, far easier than faffing about on my phone with apps especially when there's no WiFi ( e.g on holiday in furthest depths of the west country ). Also if you want to tip you can be sure the right person is getting it.

    What did you brew today?

Yesterday I brewed a Steam Pilsener using up a few malts and trying out a couple of German hops for the first time. Hallertau Blanc Steam Pilsener Batch #51 12L BIAB no sparge Total water 16.7L OG 1.052 FG 1.012 ABV 5.3% EBC 8.5 IBU 36 Organic extra pale 1.1 kg Vienna 1kg Pale MO...

White wine / Prosecco coming out of keg as foam?

This is my experience also, I've kegged Elderflower wine both sugar primed and carbonated with co2 and natural secondary fermentation made for a much better drink. I also found co2 gave a fizz that quickly dissipated, if you sugar prime in a keg you also have no worries about bottle bombs.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Busy day today, brewing a Steam Pilsener with Tettnang and Hallertau Blanc and kegged this Olicana pale ale so a little taster was in order. Some sweet caramel from the Plumage Archer with grapefruitey bitterness and aroma from the Olicana.

    What are you drinking 2024.

This Belgian single has conditioned really nicely after 6 weeks. It's lost a certain funkiness from the yeast I was picking up initially, now more as I was expecting from the style. Extra pale MO and Vienna malts, bittered with Tettnang and late addition/hopstand with Styrian Goldings.

    Elderflower Champagne Alternative

I always add campden powder to the must and leave for a day or so to kill off the wild yeast before pitching Lalvin EC1118. Plenty of people ferment relying on wild yeast but I prefer to play it safe - more predictable and you avoid getting possible off flavours. I'd advise taking a gravity...

    What are you drinking 2024.

Lovely Pacific IPA in the garden after a surprisingly hot day at work. Got a few NZ hops to use up so next brew will be something similar though perhaps a Pilsener.

Mash water volume? vs sparge method ?

If you're doing BIAB you can skip the sparge and just up the malt bill accordingly. Save the hassle for the sake of a few pence.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Lots of fresh citrus and pine from this West Coast pale ale with Mosaic, Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Centennial. Refreshment while waiting for the Nugget single hop Cali Common I brewed today to chill.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Been drinking through some older bottles, this Challenger IPA I brewed last october was the pick of the bunch. Not familiar with Cold IPA's but this is very quaffable, bready malt with grapefruity citrus and pine from Citra, Simcoe and Nelson Sauvin.

    What did you brew today?

Got this mashing at the moment, using some half price malt from Geterbrewed and cheap hops from the Worcester hop shop. Not tried Olicana or Plumage Archer before so thought I'd try it as an almost smash, added some Amber and Light crystal to bring the colour up a little. Batch #49 Olicana...

    What are you drinking 2024.

Continuing to drink a few stragglers from Xmas, a milk stout from local Church Hanbrewery. Been busy updating my inventory and planning a brew for tomorrow after a hefty delivery of malts and yeasts today, looking like a Cali Common at the moment.

    What are you drinking 2024.

Odd bottle left of Challenger IPA I brewed last September, fermented with Verdant. Found this hiding away, another one to finish off. Tasty chestnut bitter brewed just down the road, sweet malt and marmalade - think they used First Gold.

Cheers for the heads up, took the opportunity to try a couple of new base malts - their organic extra pale and Plumage archer.
