    That homebrew taste after barreling

I have recently gone back to kits and got the St James Plum Porter to try as my first one. It has been fermenting for 2 weeks now and I plan to barrel it into a corny on Sunday. I had a small taste when I did a hydrometer reading and as usual it tasted fine as in no homebrew taste. I also used...

    Commercial Cider Taste

I recently did one of Brew2Bottle's own apple cider kits and whilst perfectly drinkable and tasting okay I much prefer the taste of cider from the shops. Can anyone recommend a good kit that tastes similar from something you'd get from the shops similar to Thatchams or Stowford Press?

    Boiler recommendations please

I have a Klarstein AIO which is a few years old now and out of warranty which has decided it no longer wnats to work. It seems like the control board has packed in somewhere around where the LCD screen ribbon connects to the board. It's only done 20 maybe 30 brews which has kind of put me off...

    CML Helles

Started just after 8am, finished just after 12pm. Cleaned up in time for dinner. Took no readings like usual and just went for it. Target was 19 litres, got 19 litres in the fermenter.

    CML AG Helles

Never done a CML AG kit before. It's calling for a boil of 90 mins with a single hop addition at 60 mins. Could I reduce the boil down to 60 mins with no negative effect? Thanks.

    Crossmyloof

Haven't been on here in ages. Glad I came back a few days ago. Thanks to some postings about CML I placed an order today for a Helles AG, can't remember which one, the maltier one. It came to £17.55? with the discount and free delivery? BARGAIN. Shame they don't do a few more kits. It was a toss...

    Klarstein help please

I have a Klarstein30/35l brewing system, can't remember the name but it's the same as Hopcat/BrewDevil etc......... I haven't used it in a while because we moved house and it's probably been in storage for 6 months or more. Anyway, did a couple of brews this week and it keeps cutting out as it...

    Gas Management Board

Brought a 6 tap gas management board a number of years from Norm. Haven't used it in a while. Connected it up today to force carb some beer and noticed the first dial that reads Carbonation will steadily rise until it hits something stupid like 100psi and then will just sit there. I can set the...

Reducer inline or on rear of tap?

Is it best to put a reducer on the back of the tap or in line. Have some taps with 5/16 beer line fitted approx 1ft. So I could either buy an inline 5/16 - 3/16 reducer or by a reducer that goes straight into the back of the tap.

    Corny Dispensing Recommendation

I’ve got 4 corny kegs with the ball valve fittings, these are from a few years ago. I’ve cleaned the all up and am look at dispensing recommendations. I’ve seen so far either the faucets but have read beer flows too fast out of them or those party dispenser things with some 3/8 piping to slow...

    Klarstein all in one

I have done some AG brewing in the past and always used an online calculator to work out sparge water. I am now looking at the Klarstein/Ace all in one machines and can't get my head around how you determine how much sparge water you want? Could someone please explain in easy to grasp and...

    AG supplies (AG recipe kits)

I don't have room for sacks of malt and what not so while i'm waiting for the boil thought i'd ask where do most of you buy your AG recipe kits from? My first one back after a 2-3 break is from The Malt Miller. I saw some on Beer Hawk I think it was but they were all out of stock. If this...

    Returning after a break

Right I still have all my AG equipment albeit a little dirty for which I've order some cleaning stuff (KWP, VKP?) and I remember I used to use the batch sparge method. For the this I followed a batch sparge calculator on Jimsbeerkit, I presume this is still pretty accurate providing you put the...

    Boiler advice.

So after cleaning up my gear and testing the boiler it's broke. Tbh it's old and I could probably do with a new one as it was used when I got it. So any recommendations for a boiler suitable for 23litres/40 pints? Are these buffalo boilers any good? I seen them mentioned a few times here and...

    Starting Up Again

So, after a long hiatus of I'm not sure how many years I've just dug out all my mashing stuff out, cleaned it all up and ordered a St Austell IPA kit. Looking forward to it.

    First Kit After AG

After trying AG for 12 months and not really having the time to continue doing AG I decided to go back to kits and did a Wherry that I brought a few months back from Tesco for £10. I remember the first time I did a Wherry and wondered what all the fuss was about because all I ever had was that...

    Bench Capper

Just had a bench capper, one of the single lever ones. It has the standard 26mm adapter fitted. Will this cap all normal UK beer bottles using 26mm caps or does it depend on the diameter of the hole on the bottle? I have a mixture of bottles from Wilko's brought brown bottles, to shop brought...

What do I need to be able to use beer engine?

I have a beer engine that I brought many months ago but have yet to set it up. I use 4 cornies fed with gas via one of Norm's 6 way gas management boards. I am getting another cornie (hopefully) in a few weeks and would like to connect the beer engine up to it but don't know how or what other...
