    Weights for hop bag

I've got a pack of 4 Sauer Stones which are food grade soda glass discs that are used by people who do fermented veg to put in the top of mason jars to keep the veg under the vinegar. 2 of these weigh down the fullest dry hop bag and they are easy to sterilse and are food safe.

    Bottling... blimey,

It's all about having the correct gear and then bottling process is fairly painless. Bottling bucket with bottling wand for batch priming. No rinse steriliser. Bottle tree Vinator to scoot the steriliser into the bottles. Bench capper Job done

    Wychwood Hobgoblin bottles

To answer your questions as best as I can. 1. No reason why not - I've got a few and been using them for various beers. 2. Yes 3. Pretty much ALL UK supermarkets seem to stock Wychwoods - especially Hobgoblin. Morrisons, ASDA etc. The beer is cheap over here - but I'm not really a fan.

    Transfer from boiler to fv

This is the stage where you want to get loads of air into the wort before pitching the yeast so this aeration going into the FV is what you want.

Finings - do you use them and which one

I don't use any finings at all but then I tend to have the patience to leave the beer to condition for quite a while before I drink it. And I'm not bothered about a slightly hazy pint. Having said that, they always seem to come out very clear (with a careful pour) so maybe I've just been lucky...

    Double C IPA (Extract)

Should be great with the Citra added. Watch out if you are using liquid extract to reduce the volume a bit (unless you want a weaker beer) as there is about 20% less fermentable sugar in the liquid extract compared to the dried stuff weight for weight.

    Double C IPA (Extract)

I know the recipe section is generally for AG recipes but I thought I'd throw this one out there as it turned out really nice (and didn't last long between me and my mates). This would be a good one for anyone wanting to move on from kits to extract brewing as it's very simple. I knocked this...

I'd probably be up for one depending on colour. Not a fan of white t shirts.

    Swing top bottle offer

Looks like it. The swing top bottles have the 2 wee holes at the top to attach the 2 wire ends. This then acts as the pivot for the cap to fit. The bottle in the picture is just a plan bottle. I have no idea what they are playing at. The swing tops won't fit a normal bottle. It just looks like...

    Biere de garde at lidl

Nipped into my local Lidl for some yesterday but it was sold out. Any idea if they are getting more in or is a one-off related to the French promo they seem to be doing?

HBC Full Extract Irish Red Ale

OK, First bottle opened. Clear as a bell. Very red in colour (you can see that when you hold it up to the light). Bit lacking in head (I may have under carbed it) but it kind of suits the style. Lovely taste with a nice sweetish finish. No hop aroma as was to be expected with only one hop...

How to do a partial boil extract brew

I've never had any issues with infections or off tastes (I guess I'm asking for it now ). I'm in Edinburgh so the water is soft and tastes good from the tap - I guess if you are in a hard water area or an area where the water is highly treated then it might be a different matter. Note I'm...

    S-04 yeast attenuation

I've not had issues when I've used S-04 - in fact, it usually goes off like a train and starts ferrmenting like mad. I see what you mean about some companies putting the same yeast in all their kits regardless of style (see HBC Extract Kits reviews - they all came with S-05). But actaully S-04...

    Heating Option

Very cheap to run. The standard aquarium heaters for the average fish tank are only about 15-50 Watts and once they are up to temperature, they only add a bit of heat as required to keep the temperature constant.

How to do a partial boil extract brew

I reckon you should just about get away with an 8 litre pot for this - but watch out for it boiing over and making a right mess of your hob :-) It will depend on how much steeping grains are in the kit you have. As was pointed out on all the reviews of the HBC Extract Kits, the same...
