I appreciate what you say, but I heard the Waverley described as a Clyde Puffer when I was onboard. I don't remember who said it, but I just accepted it as a valid description of the old girl.

    Currywurst . . . . . A classic German fast food dish. A perfect accompaniment to a cold glass of Pils 😋

The 'Waverley' sailing out of Largs harbour. The Waverley is the last of the 'Clyde Puffers' and is the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1946, she sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973. The boat now runs tourist...

I believe that following a meeting with US Government officials during WW2, Winston Churchill was quoted as saying "Divided by a common language". He was renowned for his wit. ;)

The Glenfinnan (a.k.a. Harry Potter) viaduct on board The Jacobite between Mallaig and Fort William. . . . . Absolutely stunning scenery. The photo does not really do it justice.

    Refractometer focus

For several years of using a refractometer to check approx. OG readings I have struggled to read the result clearly because the numbers and the scale were always slightly blurred. I put it down to my failing eyesight, so I squinted and soldiered on. Anyway, today I discovered something which may...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Whirlpool arm modification

Good point . . . . You could put a short length of silicon tube over the end of the whirlpool arm and then insert a short length of 15mm copper tube into that. This could be easily flattened to whatever size of opening appears to work best. Also, if it did get blocked with hop bits it could be...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Whirlpool arm modification

Nice simple idea  I was also very disappointed with the performance of the Bz whirlpool arm. I tried bushing the ss tube down to a smaller diameter. It gives a better jet of liquid, and improved things a bit, but there is still not a particularly good 'whirl'. This looks like a much...
