Split batch of a no boil Berliner Weisse today. 3kg pilsner & 2kg wheat should give me around 35 litres of 1.041 OG wort. I'll liquor that back to 40 litres to give me 2 x 20 litres batches fermented with Lallemand's Philly Sour.
One will get around 3kg of fresh rhubarb added & the other 3-4...
A 30 litre batch of a clone of Ampersand's "On The Wing" today. It's a 4.5% NEPA & my local homebrew club are doing a "brew off" to see who gets closest to the original.
Grist is Golden Promise with some oats, wheat & dextrin & hops are Ekuanot, Amarillo, Citra & Chinook all at whirlpool so not...
I'm going to try & head there for a day as I'm fairly local. I went last year with a mate who knows Tom & Dani (LEP owners) so we wangled a camping ticket but he's since given up brewing & drinking altogether so no such luck this year.
It's a great event & the beer selection at the pub is...
Thank you to all brewers who submitted entries this month. I thoroughly enjoyed the judging, particularly the wide range of styles and would definitely recommened others have a go at this category in future. Without further ado, here is the top 3:
1. @Leon103 - DIPA
2. @samale - dark lager

10 beers from 5 brewers! And a lovely selection to boot; saisons, IPAs, lagers, a bitter & a stout!
Will make a start on judging tonight with a view that I'll likely need to finish tomorrow night!
It's definitely an extravagance but I love cask beer! Managed to find a bit of kit on eBay that means I can attach it to a 5 litre mini keg which is perfect for a weekend (or a particularly thirsty evening!).
Sounds like possibly a finer grain crush than usual?
Rye can be sticky but not as bad as you've described when it's only 1 in 7.5 kg.
Fingers crossed you still get a beer out of it at the end!
Back in the saddle after an inadvertent 4 months hiatus. Bramling Cross ESB today, pushing the limit of my kit to get 30 litres so I can fill a corny & 2 X mini kegs to serve through my beer engine.
Hitting the numbers so far! thumb.
