I hate to be "that guy" but it's widely accepted that though sierra nevada markets itself as an American Pale Ale, it set the the standards for what would be adopted as the West Coast IPA. I think what you are describing, is style creep and change over time. That's one of the things we talked...

Amber Ale 2 , electric boogaloo. Slightly modified recipe this time because the input I got over the limited batch from last time was that it needed an abv bump. So I've bumped it up to 6%. :)

In answer to your question though, I don't really have one. The internet seems pretty divided on it, as they are with most things. Id just adjust it to your liking bud. There's not really a wrong answer.

Hadn't heard about that before. I did read that the white German shepherds were more docile and placid than traditional ones, but I didn't see the bit about them being called swiss shepherds. Very interesting.
