Bless you though for not dumping it and living up to your responsibilities. That's what I call a proper dog owner 😍
Wouldn’t change her for the world. Even though she is a nightmare lol. How could I ?

That's our last furry gone now. Not sure what to do next. I'd like another dog but the hubby says we won't be able to go out. I'll deffo get round him though 😊
We used to have dogs but as you know they do need a lot more looking after that is why we decided to get a cat when we lost our last dog and both started to work day shift.

this thread is a difficult read. i had a cat for many many years when i was little. i never appreciated him. i didn't realize how much joy he brought us.

our cat now is considered part of the family.

pet ownership is a brutal contract . that never occurred to me before.

Oh yeah if you're a proper "owner" ,even though they could choose to go live elsewhere, they choose us and there's the bond. There's nothing nicer than a few cats and a couple of dogs taking up the best chairs and needing a fuss.
I generally prefer my pets to most people I encounter.

swimbo drives me crazy sometimes. my cat never does.

being unable to speak they are just so much better at detecting emotions then people are. they always know when to stay away and can always tell when we are not feeling ourselves. its really astounding.

plus pure empathy when we need it.

very few humans if any can do that.

I never liked cats I assumed they only came home to eat and **** and had no interest in humans but I couldn't have been more wrong, ours hates being alone and follows us round the house (when it's awake) it loves sitting on thr recycling box in the yard watching swmbo putting the washing out then follows her in when she has finished it's a proper lap cat and it has changed my opinion on how cats interact with their owners.

What a cute story. 😊

Sweeney used to come with me when I took the dog for a walk, he didn't care how far it was. All the other villagers used to chuckle at him 🤣

He used to put all the dogs in the village in their place as well. No dog dared to back-answer Sween 😅

Sorry for your loss @Tess Tickle's Brewery, it definitely is the hardest part of pet ownership. We lost our Maine Coon a few weeks ago, we took him to the vets because wasn't himself to find he was in heart failure, despite having others pets he is a big loss to the family 😭. In terms of dogs we crate trained ours when she was a puppy and even though she now sleeps on my daughter's bed she still uses her crate if we go out for a few hours, she gets in it herself when she sees me getting ready for the school run which to me shows that she doesn't mind being in there. Obligatory Misty sat by my feet while I enjoy a Saturday morning brew (the coffee kind not beer 😬)

Thank you and sorry for your loss also. The doggy is gorgeous and looks like she's happy and a lot of fun 😍
