I've only done a Pilsner twice but for each I've cold crashed for several days (as cold as my fridge will go, which is about 4C), then bottled & carbed up as usual before storing away (cool rather than cold) as long as I can wait. I can see no reason why you cant leave it cold longer before...

For a kit based brew, how about a one can kit but don't add the kilo of sugar? Could give you something drinkable but about 2% lower abv.

Today's brew, mashing right now, is a Sierra Nevada inspired pale. However, this is my first venture into "better"(?) or at least more comprehensive water treatment. Previously, I'd just added half a teaspoon of gypsum and half a Campden tablet to everything as water here is very soft...

With my previous fermenter, I didn't have space inside the fridge to fit one. I just taped over the hole with duck tape & put a pin hole in it. Worked fine for several years like that.

Festival Friars Ale is supposed to be "inspired by" Abbot. Not done it myself so can't comment but the Fesyival kits I've done were good.

Managed to get a false bottom for mine. Angel homebrew sent a 'back in stock' email. I ordered one pretty much immediately & it was then marked as 'out of stock' so they must have found one in the back of a cupboard. I might now try a batch without using the hop spider to see if hop...

For a 24 L brew, I'll start with ~33L water (mash + sparge) The cold water tank (gravity feed through cooling coil) holds ~50L Then cleaning up will take another 20L (?) So around 100L ballpark. Half of which is for cooling. Perhaps I should collect that & re-use for cleaning.
